Shiny Bell

Awaiting dispatch from Taylors on my last visit was this gold painted bell created for Vattapalai Kannagi Amman Kovil Temple in Sri Lanka, where it will be hung in a tower. The temple wanted a bell that was very long in the waist so it is unusually heavy for it's diameter. It's hung for slow swinging and is inscribed with Tamil language detailing the names of the donors of the bell, it's destination, and the day of it's casting. The inscription was proof read by a Tamil speaker in Loughborough before the bell was cast! On the other side of the bell is the symbol of Om Shiva, a Hindu deity.
