Yeah, it's a shame. That kinda killed the game for me. The sinking physics in Ship Simulator Extremes were much, much, more realistic though. They made it so the ship's stern would lift out of the water and sink, like titanic did. It was disappointing how Titanic wasn't in the game :)

It was actually just the in game AI. No mods or anything. You will see them on sea every so often. This one just happened to be on a collision course. Thanks for watching XD

But the fact that he called the video "ship collision" is quite misleading, as he was messing around and it was not a natural collision because you saw him turn to the ship on purpose. Maybe he should of removed the panel that he was using on 3rd person and use arrow keys to turn....

I think if Titanic rammed a freighter like this, the freighter would go down first. From what I've heard, it would have actually been better if the Titanic rammed the iceberg head-on; that way only one of the water-tight chambers would have flooded.

+Robert Olin That belief is wrong is so many ways. The Titanic would have sunk even faster if it hit head on. Think of how energy is transferred. The Titanic was going at speed of 20 knots, if it hit head on it would have gone from 20 knots to 0 in a very quick amount of time. It would have ripped the haul apart. The spline would have broke, and since energy transfers through solid objects very well, the back of the ship would have also ripped open, making it sink from both sides. It would have sunk in a matter of minutes, not hours.

+Greg There are many debates concerning head-on vs sideline. One ship that comes to mind in favor of the head-on theory is the Stockholm; this vessel had a severe head-on collision exactly like that hypothesized about the Titanic, and survived. It's currently the oldest passenger liner in service today. Regardless of which theory is correct, I think Titanic went down first in the game because it's Titanic. If this collision happened in real life, my money wouldn't be on the freighter!

Robert Olin The stokholm was the smallest cruise ship sailing across the atlantic during it's time. It has less mass than the titanic. Secondly it hit another ship. The other ship when hit would move and dampen the energy. The Titanic hit an iceberg. Icebergs are massive compared to ships, it will not budge, leaving all the energy of impact on the titanic.

+Robert Olin Yeah my money personally wouldn't be on the freighter either, but the problem is they used the wrong material on the bow due to the fact they were running low on money so they had to cut costs which ultimately meant sacrificing structural integrity so if Titanic (the Original) was still afloat and it rammed into one of these freighters it would most likely crumple horrendously from the impact. Which is why when I'm old enough I'm gonna start a trust to build a new Titanic that'll look just like the old one but it'll have the right materials on the bow section this time. All i'll need is just over 1,100,000,000 U.S Dollars plus several hundred more million to hire 2,200 Irishmen to build Titanic at Harland and Wolff (where the original was built all those years ago), and if they really are building a Titanic II then SUCK IT LOSERS I'M GONNA MAKE A TITANIC I V2 SO THERE!

Titanic would've survived such a collision. Her bow would be buckled and the forward 1 or 2 compartments would flood, but she would remain afloat. She in fact could've survived her forward 4 compartments flooding. Had she rammed the iceberg head on in 1912 rather than grazing it (and popping rivets along 6 compartments, she would've stayed afloat.

That's merely an urban legend. Just imagine what kind of forces are at work when a 55-ton ship crashes into the iceberg which weighs a lot more than the ship at 22 knots. The entire hull from the bow to the stern would be fucked.

Well I'm not a physicist so not gonna argue any further, just mentioned what I have read :P But yeah it was inevitable that they were going to try and avoid it, but imagine: if they had crashed it to the iceberg head-on instead of trying to avoid it and the people had been rescued in time, this situation would be considered the joke of the century.

Zechey I know what you're saying, but it is actually true. I am an expert on Titanic and have studied it for ages, I find it so interesting. What they are saying is true, Titanic was designed to be "Unsinkable" as it could survive a collision or a breach striking 4 or less compartments. They would shut the water tight doors and it would be safe. Although, if Titanic struck 5 or more compartments (it struck 6) it would just be too much weight and water for the ship to handle, forcing the ship to pull down, flooding over the bulkheads and sending her to the bottom of the ocean. That is what happened. And back then they though they would never hit and iceburg and puncture 6 compartments, they would think if they hit it, it would be straight on puncturing 1 compartment at the front. They thought if they saw the iceburg it would not hit on the side, it would hit straight on or they would miss it completely. But they panicked. Regardless if they knew it would not sink if they hit the burg straight on, it is still a huge risk as the men working down on all the engines would still drown if they did not get out before the water tight doors close. Sooooo, I don't blame them for trying to turn the ship and port round her from the iceburg. But it is true, Titanic WOULD have survived if she hit the burg straight on.

yes... but the Olympic(Titanic's older sister) collided with a relatively small ship in comparison, in roughly the same way as this video. although the crew on the U-Boat that she rammed wasn't as lucky as the ones on that cargo ship in this video. and the Olympic was fatally wounded, she was fixed, but never truly recovered.
