Circle P Enterprises (Betsy and Reece) provides contract hay services in the Western Montana area. We are a 250 head beef cattle operation and we want to show you what ranching is all about.

Shipping day is one of the best days of the year for a rancher. We get the help of family and friends to get the big job done. All the cattle have been previously sorted according to gender and weight (see prior video). We gather them in, sort dams from calves, load calves on trailers, weigh them at the stock yards, the buyer may sort again, then load them to their feeding destination. Afterwards we have a big meal together!

It’s wonderful to see a young family involved in agriculture and ranching. You are a rare specimen these days young lady. I warmly congratulate you for starting this channel and for being a hard working cowboy. I’m excited to go back and watch from the beginning. Ranching is all I ever wanted to do. Great to get a paycheque. Prices are better this year, so that’s nice, even though inflation is through the roof. In north central Alberta 500 pd steers were still holding in close to $4 a pd. Hoping they come back to their highs when I ship later on. Month ago they were bringing $4.30.

It is nice that the price is higher but still tough to be profitable with the cost of inputs. Our market is down about $0.40 now compared to when I contracted in august. Thanks for watching.
