Magnificent voice. She has always been in a category of her own. No comparison to anyone. There are other greats, but she has solidified her place in history as one of best of the best. Her song interpretation, stage presence, vocal styling and showmanship has served her well in positioning her as an unmatched phenomal vocalist. When you hear her, you know it!!! God blessed her tremendously.

Dame Shirley Bassey DBE, is the daughter of a Nigerian Father, Henry Bassey and an English Mother (from Teesside) Eliza who settled just outside the bay area of Cardiff, Wales then known as Tiger Bay. After regenerating this area it became Cardiff Bay. The only singer to perform more than one James Bond theme, actually 3: Goldfinger, Diamonds Are Forever and Moonraker. Her career began in 1953 and still going strong with a new No.5 album released in November 2020 entitled " I Owe It All To You "

I read that dramatic voices tend to age better because the vocal chords are thicker. She's also just a very healthy woman who's stayed active in the gym and looks after herself. I think she's also just lucky, I mean how many women look that glamorous over 80??

Thank you so much for the commentary at the beginning of this video. I learned things that I never knew about Shirley. She is beyond legendary. It was through seeing her live where I learned the difference between just a singer and a TRUE vocalist. It was the same when I saw Miss Patty Labelle perform live. Recordings don’t do them justice. Being able to attend their performances in person will have you FEEL the power behind these voices as the thrill of their vocals fill an auditorium and penetrate your soul.
