ABOUT When You're Smiling:
"When You're Smiling" is a song by Larry Shay, Mark Fisher, and Joe Goodwin (June 6, 1889-July 31, 1943), and made famous by Louis Armstrong, who recorded it at least three times, in 1929, 1932, and 1956. Duke Ellington also recorded it several times earlier in his career.
Many other recordings exist, for example those by Studies in Swing No.3, Louis Prima, Frank Sinatra and Patti Page. Cliff Bruner brought it to the country charts in 1939. And also Nat King Cole sung it.
It was adopted by Leicester City F.C. as the club anthem, and can be heard at many of the team's games.
In 1961, Judy Garland performed the song at the Judy at Carnegie Hall concert.
Shirley Bassey performed this song, live, many times during the late 70's through early 80's as a tribute to her idol, and friend, Judy Garland.
Dean Martin also sang it, sometimes parodying it as "When You're Drinkin'".

Shirley was more than just a fan of Judy. They were both friends. Judy really loved Shirley's voice and the way she performed. Shirley is her own person and is not trying to be anyone other than herself. Her 130 million in record sales is proof that being her own person was quite enough

I sing the American songbook of traditional standards, interactive jazz favourites, desired love songs, literary ballad poems, world’s greatest lullabies, provocative cabaret, classical operetta, composition of romantic Hollywood/Broadway classics and cinematic tunes for an hour. Tough to fit that all in and I cannot. *smiles* Side note: Elderberries is all vegan food and they will probaly move Downtown L.A. after Nov when their doors will close. Since the block will be demolished after Novembre. We want to see the best of the hypster cafe before it closes doors. If you want to attend I will get you a free coffee. Parking is in the back free, too. Also, I will sing "When You're Smiling" as well. I do not sing in full voice in case folks are there wanting conversation as they do in coffee houses. ATTENTION: Dame Shirley Bassey will be appearing at the 2013 Academy Awards Show In Hollywood on February 24th. She will perform for the 50th James Bond anniversary celebration! Wonderful News! Bassey is herself celebrating 60 (Diamond) years in Show Business, starting back in 1953.
