When I was a little girl, I saw Shirley Temple at an award show. I got up the nerve to approach her and ask for an autograph. Before I knew what was happening, security came out of everywhere. As they were trying to hustle me away from her, she told them to stop and that I was with her. After she got rid of them, she told me to walk with her to her seat. During our walk we had a lovely conversation. Once at her seat, she asked if I had a pen and then gave me the most beautiful autograph. That day, at The Black Film Makers Hall of Fame, Shirley Temple made a little black girl from Oakland California, blissfully happy. 💙

Even crazier when the girl is both a child and a dwarf, like with Natalia Grace. She finally got vindicated by a DNA test proving her age, years after her adoptive parents abused her and even a judge declared her adult against medical evidence. I'm not sure if her abuse had a sexual nature to it at any point, but the way she was treated put her at immense risk of that kind of abuse.

They don't. They are simply cashing in too. I'm living in a country where few years a go they trained middle class and even financially well teen and pre teens to procure others, befriend the "dear" (deer or bunny *rabbit masks photos lead to the wolf game*) and propose "work", the "hunter/wolf", "whale" or "shark" were paid in different untraceble methods. Some did for fun, some did for curiosity, some did because they were already in the "trade". You won't ever be free, because as soon you get in contact with your victim, all your online activities will be archived and used against you. They don't use adults anymore, only teens, but don't think that some adults have no part in this. They are paid to just look away... And I know for a fact that no one turn the blind eye if they can cash in, you really think that if an adult see and have proof he won't try to use this against the perpetrator? If the person is smart and have backups or share the knowledge with others, she can't simply disappear, the blood trail would be suspicious. "Accidents"? Yeah, they happen, but this "line of abuse" is too big and bring too much money, is easier to just pay and make the person shut up. And most accept and do. The one's who don't has to be really stupid to talk, if they do, they often won't find a person that will believe them, if they insist, they better be smart because soon enough they will be criminally accused of something horrible and the public won't believe them. I know how it works on 2 continents I lived... But I can imagine that they will do the same everywhere because it works. Don't be innocent this is a huge operation and is brutal.... Edit: I didn't use Whale loosely. Think few years back and you will remember the blue whale. The media said it was fake. It wasn't. That is the proof of how deep the hole is.

@@ytrewq12345 You've just shared very important information regarding the reality we live in and so far received just three likes. Who even knows exactly how many took the actual time or even care reading any of it and those that ignored and past on it. I would say that in today's world they just passed on it, because either they refuse to ever face reality, plain out don't care or only surfing around for gossip. But I can try to call out people that seems to care and give some breadcrumbs here and there, if you follow, you find. Most don't do, and I understand, but you would be traumatized if you knew how everything happens under people's nose... Is really insane. And just to survive you will develop some very sad and psycho like habits... And you need more than a though skin, you need to look around and not see humans anymore. You see a price, you see a pattern, you see a end, don't ever see a person or your going to become soft, and your conscience will scream... And you will end up in several... If you're lucky...

@@petervermeer.4904 Romans 8:26 And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don’t know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words. 27 And the Father who knows all hearts knows what the Spirit is saying, for the Spirit pleads for us believers in harmony with God’s own will. 28 And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them. 29 For God knew his people in advance, and he chose them to become like his Son, so that his Son would be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. 30 And having chosen them, he called them to come to him. And having called them, he gave them right standing with himself. And having given them right standing, he gave them his glory. Nothing Can Separate Us from God’s Love 31 What shall we say about such wonderful things as these? If God is for us, who can ever be against us? 32 Since he did not spare even his own Son but gave him up for us all, won’t he also give us everything else? 33 Who dares accuse us whom God has chosen for his own? No one-for God himself has given us right standing with himself. 34 Who then will condemn us? No one-for Christ Jesus died for us and was raised to life for us, and he is sitting in the place of honor at God’s right hand, pleading for us. 35 Can anything ever separate us from Christ’s love? Does it mean he no longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or hungry, or destitute, or in danger, or threatened with death? 36 (As the Scriptures say, “For your sake we are killed every day; we are being slaughtered like sheep.”) 37 No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us. 38 And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow-not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. 39 No power in the sky above or in the earth below-indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.

In The Little Colonel, when she dances up the stairs with Bill Robinson, she insisted on holding his hand. Being that it was 1935 and the world was still viscously ignorant, he wasn’t “allowed” to hold her hand, let alone on screen, but every time they did the scene she naturally took his hand. To the point of where the director said, “She’s just a kid, who cares?” & left it in. Now an iconic moment that speaks volumes about Shirley, especially in her adult life.

Despite the exploitation that Shirley faced throughout her child she did not see herself as a victim and achieved many things. Its disheartening to skip from the death of her second husband in her forties to her death in her 80s. You didnt mention any of her accomplishments in adulthood other than marrying and having children. She was active in charities, helping people, and extremely committed to her involvement in politics. I believe she attempted to be first female senator in California. Her determination to not be just a retired childstar is admirable and deserves a mention.

Shirley Temple, the toddler/child star, was every pedophiles dream. She was the studio's owners dream, which is why they sexualized her as a child and didn't know what to do with the adult Shirley Temple by way of roles. It was in your face disgusting. No different than the later versions of the kiddie "beauty" pageants that cost JonBenèt Ramsey her life. They, too, were pedophiles heaven. Adults, in general, will do anything to make money to achieve fame and fortune even off of the backs of children. Being responsible seems to be a hard balancing act for some adults when it comes to child rearing. It's just unfortunate that Shirley Temple wasn't the only child that was put through the ringer. Luckily, she managed to survive and thrive. Very few do.

@@bluerayhealingwithrain5190 I completely agree! Just like many other terms these days have, that term was stolen, twisted & sold by those wishing to push their own agenda or ideology but at the same time always having the added benefit of the original use of the term as a distant backup so that anyone who may criticise the hijacked meaning can be labelled some hate name - which is obviously why those terms are carefully selected based on the ignorance of those not privy to the true meaning while at the same time, robbing those for whom the term holds importance for. I guarantee the majority who use that term have zero notion as to the original/true meaning or importance behind it and would be horrified to know from where & whom it's been hijacked. I wish more people spoke up about it as it was happening (I know some did which is the only reason I know what you're even referring to) but as per usual it's a gradual transition and before you know it, the current/popular use has little to no resemblance to what it once meant. Alternatively terms which are derogatory are often repurposed in the same way which allows the term to survive. I'm assuming you're American(?) but an example from Ireland (where I'm from) would be 'Paddy' (used as a derogative) or 'beyond The Pale', which is hilarious to us when we hear Americans commonly use it but was originally used as a derogatory comment about the 'ignorant, uncivilised, savages' 👀😂 populating the uncultivated, barren land that were people of Ireland during British colonialism. 'The Pale' was County Dublin - the only civilised place in Ireland, populated by the only civilised people (the English) 😂. Hearing Americans order a 'Black and Tan' in a bar is another one that is highly offensive/hurtful to Irish people 🥴 (Ps Sorry for essay)

Yeah, she called him Uncle Bill and he was actually one that tried to protect her on set of the movies they filmed because he knew what the other men said about her. A child SMH. When he noticed the guys were a little too close, he would call her over to rehearse some steps really quick. She would only learn the routines a few hours before shooting them so she wouldn't forget. But because Bill "Bojangles" was black, he wasn't able to help as much he wanted. They would "put him in his place" as a black man in those times.

Just saw a fairytale documentary about Temple (from 1992) about how everything in her life was so amazing. Her parents were so good, she loved to play all these totally not weird roles as a kid, and after acting she had such an amazing life thanks to Hollywood. Not a word about the way she was portrayed and the abuse she suffered. It shows once again how easy hurting children is normalized. Great that you always give a full picture of the ups and downs of the actors/singers lifes. You really give them the credits that they deserve.

As a child, I loved Shirley Temple movies. When I was a teen, I didn't understand why they typecasted her and would have loved seeing her in films as she grew up. But nowadays, I figure it was probably better that she left Hollywood. As for her mother, I remember an interview with Larry King where Shirley talk about an interview or cast she went to. She went to one room, and her mother was taken somewhere else. The producer revealed himself to Shirley, and she started to laugh. He got mad, and kicked her out. When she was reunited with her mother, during the car ride, she told her mother, "you wouldn't believe what happened to me" and her mother dismissed her and responded, "whatever you went through, I got worse". 😳

It's really sad how she was treated when she herself gave us so much happiness, especially by those she should've been able to trust to keep her safe. I never knew of the adulterated movies she starred in. It's inexcusable to put a child in an adult's place and it's so sick how we're still doing this today. Even though Shirley had to endure this sick behavior, she turned out to be a very classy lady. She will always be my favorite star.

After everything she's been through, she seems like a very humble person. When I was a little girl I used to love to watch her tap dance. Shirley was very talented.💙💙💙💐💐💐

Honestly...the title "SEX TRAFFICKING VICTIM to UNITED STATES AMBASSADOR" should have been enough. Take the high road. A lot of survivors of child sexual abuse look UP to Shirley Temple Black. She was NEVER a prostitute, nor perceived as one...until NOW.

The title makes perfect sense because she was basically pimped out by her family and company so maybe think before you lash out.

💙 I'm only 36, but my Grandmother watched all the classics a bunch and she helped raised me. So, i was familiar with old time Hollywood thanks to my grandmother and her love for the classics. So, i always love Shirley Temple. I never knew this or paid much attention as a kid, but thats so deranged! Its heartbreaking.

I had never heard of her. Seeing her perform was something else. She was very beautiful and talented. I can't believe I'd never heard of her. Being born in 65 she was little before my time. But wow. She definitely deserved better.

Thank you! Shirley Temple went through a lot that she shouldn’t have had to go through. She was wise to leave Hollywood and became a very famous and wise lady without Hollywood. I’m glad she had a good long marriage, she deserved peace and happiness on her own terms.🙏❤️
