Shirley Verrett was a mezzo-soprano in the second half of the twentieth century. From the 70s began to sing dramatic soprano roles. The amplitude of her voice allowed him to perform roles simultaneously as soprano and mezzo soprano.
In Aida she represented Amneris a mezzo, and Aida as dramatic soprano In the 60s made duet with Maria Callas, being the second voice,it means the mezzo.
In Macbeth, she represents lady Macbeth who is performed by a dramatic soprano.
Lady Macbeth
Lady Macbeth is the story of a Scottish history in medieval times. Macbet is a knight in the inner circle of King Duncan.
Duncan informs Macbeth that will spend the night in his castle. Macbeth and his wife plan and execute the murder of the king and Macbeth usurps the throne.
Macbeth is a story of intrigue, in which are seers, demons, legends and conspiracies.
Macbeth was ambitious, treacherous, dishonest but coward. Lady Macbeth was the same, but much stronger and decided. Without Lady Macbeth, Macbeth would never have been nor murderer, nor a king.
