Yep, Shiro was actually giving Kai some very clear boundaries and Kai showed respect: the mouth licking thing with low ears and wagging tail is a sign of submission, he was basically telling Shiro "I know you are the boss, I am tiny and mean no threat". It's why they got along.

remember how Suki met other stranger dogs? she was very very friendly. if Suki did not remember Kai, that means she's meeting a random strange dog for the first time and therefore her approach would have been very friendly too. Her somewhat indifferent persona when she met Kai in this video ironically proves that she does remember him, it is just her approach to her grown-up pup has changed.

If he did the little foot thing that would mean he’s rejecting Shiros dominance claim and things would go very poorly after that. Shiros “chicken dance” is actually him spreading his scent markers using his back paws, so essentially he’s peeing and using his back paws to spread the scent glands located in his paws indicating to any other animal that walks by that that is his territory. Dogs do that when they are in a new territory to claim that territory as theirs.

Our family includes two Shibas--- Sally and Max. Sally is the sweetest pup I've ever known, and Max is a really good boy. Max is a big boy, weighing in at 60 pounds. He is the biggest Shiba I've ever seen. Sally is a natural 32 pounder.I look forward to seeing them when I get home each day. Their tails wiggling, and Sally bowing and then rolling on her back displaying maximum cuteness. We love them both dearly...
