What a classic, it's funny but I remember spending quite some time looking out of the window at the start I just loved the contrast between moderately busy town and the desolate apartment, it just reinforced the Horror element IMO.

I did the same and found it suffocating and depressing. I remember looking out the window at some point and seeing a severed float up... Creepy even if it doesn't really resemble a silent hill game

Used to absolutely love silent hill 4 the room when it came out I was 14.... Was shaking when I first saw Cynthia turn into a grudge and slide along floor, I'd just watched the grudge at the time so it made it that much more frightening

What I really remember about playing this, is at the time I was also living alone in a fairly dingy apartment. Played it on the original xbox with a 27 inch TV. How the times have changed! This game had excellent atmosphere even though it wasn't as classic as 2 and 3. It really stuck with you.

@@perplexingperceptions8888 downpour is fun its storywise I have trouble with it. Granted I also had more fun with most because I accidentally brute forced a puzzle or two and used a pre order code to get a sweet axe.

I think SH1 is the most scary entry of the game. I still remember in the prologue before Harry get any weapon and Harry's ass is being handed to a monster. Thank God he is saved by the police woman. And today, after playing it 20 years, i can still remember the last place is named "Nowhere" with an empty bird cage that makes bird flipping sound. But my favoure entry of the series must be SH3. I love the songs, such as I want love, You are not here, and hometown. And above all, I really love to see how Hearter's story finall comes to an end, and can totally relate to her needs for love because of her previous life and how she deals with it.

Very Underatted game an second best to $.H.2 nevertheless the feeling of being trapped in your own apartment is psychologically terrifying the atmosphere in this game made u feel like u where living a LoveCraftian Story I'm glad u shined the spotlight on this hidden gem I would love for it to be remastered with updated visuals & quality of life nevertheless it stands the Testament of time.....

This game is excellent! I have beaten it four times, I got all the endings and once I have beaten it on the hard mode. This is one of the best horror games ever along with the Siren series!

@@nabilllaauria9944 For Mother I don't remember, but for The 21 Sacraments I think that Eileen must die in the final boss fight and you shouldn't clear the apartment from zombie ghosts. Again, I don't remember because almost ten years passed since the last time I played Silent Hill 4.

I can't help but notice that Hotel South Ashfield strangely resembles an apartment building I used to live in, which was directly across the street from a historic hotel. Anyway, strange times were had in that place, including weird depressive seclusion periods. Nothing as exciting as SH4, lol, but I did create some of my darkest music work in there during what seemed like involuntary seclusion periods. anyway, just me drawing dumb parallels to this game, which I like most in the series.
