I remember from the 1977 animated Hobbit movie, when the dwarves were singing "Misty Mountains", Gandalf and Bilbo were discussing the magic in the music and how it moved through them. I had the feeling when the title came up. No other game has done that to me.

People criticize Destiny's story at launch, but I actually liked it a lot better. I liked it because the story was more of a mystery and wasn't clear to where you knew and then grew board of it. I liked it when you were a guardian starting off in the universe of Destiny and everything was a mystery to you. Those were the times. It wasn't just "get to the point". It kept you thinking. That also made the lore better, because you had to dive deep to learn more and more about the story. At least the Darkness is still a mystery to us, considering we don't know much about it. I much look forward to the darkness now. It's boring when you know everything about the Fallen, the Hive, the Vex, the Cabal, and the Taken. I remember the first time playing Destiny 1 and I was on Mars, as soon as the door opened up and I saw the cabal, I was like, "wow, this fuckers are big". Especially with the Cabal theme in the background. Good times.

I miss the old Destiny. The gameplay was new, simple, fluid, and it worked. I would spend hours after school cashing in daily bounties, jumping from planet to planet grinding patrols and leveling up my supers, while sipping an ice cold Mtn Dew. The story (plus Taken King) were awesome, and the fanbase was cool too. New Destiny lacks that old charm; but, that might just be the nostalgia talking. And after pushing back all the darkness I could for countless hours, I would return to the Tower, in the shine of the moon, and gase up at the Traveller as Ghosts zipped by, starships made port and left again, and fellow guardians walked about playing with the purple ball or trying to climb the flags. It was the best part.

this kind of makes me sad. today, i play destiny regularly. but back when this came out i played it and i didnt think much of it and just got bored of the game. i regret that decision because i missed so many seasons and so many raids and content... all because the game was boring to me. even though i did miss out on... pretty much everything up until season of the hunt, which was right after the sunset event and beyond light and... stasis... i did learn one thing: to never take things for granted and dont miss your opportunity to experience something. I think the first thing i saw was cayde-6, an exo. my first ever character on destiny 1 was a hunter exo which said something about me. picking the coolest stuff over other things, like a warlock (im a warlock main).

This game was one of the greatest games during year 1.

Crazy how much I loved this game. I was addicted ever since the beta and I always wanted more but once destiny 2 came it felt like the same thing over again and repetitive and didn't give me that feel that the first one gave off. And everything we did, every fight we won felt like didn't mean much when it came to the second one.

You can say anything about destiny but the music and animations are top notch.

If this was before the collapse, why did they carry an Auto-Rifle?
@user-mx1gm4il3m5 жыл бұрын
assuming they were not in charge of the mission they led, I imagine their cheif, captian, or whatever terminology you use for the leader of a band of astronauts, instructed them to Beside that, this is a 5 year old trailer, why are you asking these questions now, and did you actually expect an answer?

I’d say its a screw up. An overlooked thing in their writing. Them having guns just makes it not feel like the beggining in my opinion...like the director had too much destiny in his head and guns in space was the norm.

They were going to see first hand, for the first time, an unknown object that seemingly had a will of its own. Why would you not want to take precautions such as that?

It really feels like the original concept for Destiny and what it became were very, very different.

The choral part when the traveler is revealed gets me every time. The framing, the music, and the nostalgia all hit at once

I could see people's disappointment with the overall experience. But this story and setting...oh my God, it is very beautiful and I understand bungie's ambitions with their product.

Against the odds of poor leadership Bungie did it. They gave us the 10 year plan. It was a wonderful journey with it's numerous highs and lows

Nearly 10 years later. At the verge of the final shape, at the foot of the witness, before we transcend both light and dark. I think finally understand that symbol. Its the merging of a triangle and a sphere. With three points like a triangle, but each curved like a sphere. The small oval shape in the middle, is presumably us. The travellers final shape, one that transcends the previous allowing for infinite complexity. This was our destiny.

Too bad the rest of the game can't live up to this amazing intro
@simonganley99637 жыл бұрын
Nah, it went through a rewrite, which called for a major restructuring. Games in development hell are the ones that have been in development for years upon years - Such as Duke Nukem Forever, which was released about 12+ years after its initial announcement, I believe.

Nah dude the games lack of story telling made it feel like you had really just woken up without a clue as to what’s going on. It gave the game mystery and magic, leaving the player to wonder what beautiful or horrific secrets the alternate world of destiny had in its background and history
