Guys your reviews are so refreshing compared to the glossy reviews that are normally on here !!! nice to get a true account of how things sound not over produced to make them sound better than they actually are !!! will save a lot of musicians a lot of money in the long term lol

rubyandthegamblers thank you for the feedback! We try to be as unbiased as possible (plus we don't get paid to review gear) We should mention that this is the direct tone and didn't use the cab sim which changes the sound slightly - or mic up a cab Thanks again, and make sure to keep an eye out for future episodes!

These are cool units. I got one for its portability and it does what it does well. I still use a gt5 which is ancient but a very deep professional processor. The me80 is more for the home market although it works just dandy running into the board at church. I just use it like a would a pedalboard. The gt5 I use as a full-blown processor.

I have one running through a Princeton Reverb. Have to dial everything WAY back for useable tones. Otherwise a bunch of noise. Decent Tube Screamer sound. I set up a patch that adds a short delay with the foot pedal. All my patches use the pedal to adjust boost or octave or modulation speed. Takes a while to program, but it will do just about anything.

You try the cab sim by putting a dummy headphone adapter in the jack? Supposed to say in the manual to this and many sold their ME80 not knowing which is a shame they didn't have a button for this.

the .25 inch outputs are for amp input. To record the ME80 direct to a recorder like you are doing in this video, use the .125 inch stereo output - using this output which is for recording includes the amp simulator. Since the amp simulator would change the sound immensely maybe you could re-shoot this video?

For real. The cab sim does so much for the ME-80 and I think the biggest flaw is that the only way to turn it on is by plugging something in that headphone jack. I wish it was a button or a setting. I'm hoping a new version will come out including CAB-IR's based on the Amp model and a few Miking options. Or at the least I'd love the Air-feel switch that they feature on the Katanas.

@TheDilligan
@TheDilligan 3 жыл бұрын
If the looper is saved on a preset, then when you hit that preset button, that preset button will flash, just like pedal 4 would in memory mode. Meaning it is ready to record. So if your preset is on pedal 1, you can use pedal 1 as a looper while you are on that preset without switching into manual mode. However, what you cannot do is record a loop on one preset and then play over it with another preset.

not a fan of Line 6......they are a notoriously Cheap and unreliable brand....However......apparently the Pod products are good!(I believe many pros use them).....But Like I said, I've been stung hard by Line 6 crap build quality.........Never had a problem with BOSS products, notoriously Reliable.......but I personally have the Boss me-80 and Love it......I'm actually ditching my pedalboard setup, because I find the sound quality to be good enough and SO easy to use. @goldtop362 7 жыл бұрын
Don't know what the point of all that was!!! Unless you did something different towards the end...I got bored and switched off...but putting it into the edit mode is NOT how to demo each effect! It should be in manual mode; then each section can be operated like an individual stomp box. Also...if you're going straight into recording software, you need to fit a dummy plug into the headphones socket, which engages the cab simulation. That affects the sound from the L R outs as well as the phones socket and improves the sound considerably! I've got a pedal board with good quality effects on (Keeley modded ts808, EP Booster etc) but still find the ME 80 useful, especially for modulations run through the fx loop. If I'd watched your demo first, I wouldn't have bought it...and I'd have missed out on what is actually a very good, versatile piece of kit!

Thanks for the comment and feedback! As we say, we're average musicians with average knowledge and skill! Unfortunately neither of us own a dummy plug or a 3.5 to 1/4 jack so had to do it this way - ideally we would have mic'd a cab or re-amped the audio but again, don't have the gear required However, we did rate this board a hit. Just the od's and distortions sound shit

Michael Beyer thanks for the feedback! As we say, we’re only average musicians. We don’t pretend to know everything, we don’t polish the sound post mix and we don’t get paid to plug gear. There’s also a lot more to life than playing music 😂 remember that All the best

I sold this and bought a GT 10. Much better unit. Not perfect, but plenty satisfying for practicing and jamming. This unit was hard to use and sounded incredibly muddy on the high gain settings and underwhelming on the clean settings. Look elsewhere if you're interested in this unit IMO

I am not a pro but have been using the ME-80 for a while but it was a disappointment sound wise as it is too digital and lacks the finesse that I am looking for, it has some good features, some cool effects, it is built very well(except for the distance between pedals), it is a tank, the controls are also good but in the end it does not win my heart as the overall sound is not analogue enough. So for me it is more shit than hit.

Just IMHO...everything sounded MUCH better when you had your guitar on the neck pickup instead of the bridge.

This can't even be considered as a review. These guys are just fooling around with all different effects without any knowledge that each will sound better when tone, level knobs are adjusted. An amateur playing small riffs on a guitar and other blindly switching the controls will make all processors sound shitty 😅 P. S. Watch how he bombs the UNI-V by playing the shitty riff

Boss doesn't have very good presets. They make you study the device and tweak tweak tweak till you find the right sound. Does distortion and amp modeling well. Weak on delay and reverb. Boss GT6 is far superior.

This peddle sounds horrible. not because of the pedal but the speakers you are playing them through it sounds like you are playing through some 3in blue tooth speakers.

Is it that hard to hire 2 sound engineers and sell the fucking units with PERFECT SOUNDS as presets? It takes too much energy from musicians TO FIND THE FUCKING RIGHT SOUND

I own this and use it direct to pa. Your distorted presets sounds like garbage. Make no mistake there is great tones in this. I get people asking what I play through all the time and they're amazed it's just this. Takes time and tweaking but it's a great straightforward unit for the $. The "Stack" amp setting with driver in front is best Rock tone by far

no, no, no, no, FUCKING HELL, NOOOOO!!!! its shit!! the distortions are the crappiest iv'e ever heard. Ya, its got effects, like everything else does, but so what! If it sounds like shit, no effect is going to help it! I tried my ass off to make it somewhat tolerable, but i just can't. I'm sorry, but i'd give this about a 3.0 rating and that's me being nice about it. SO, if anyone reading this, please play it for a bit in the store before you buy it. It still retails at 299$ here in the U.S. , and i just don't want anyone to piss their hard earned money away on something that's just going to sound like crap. SO PLEASE PLAY IT BEFORE YOU BUY IT. You see lots of these in guitar center's used section because people trade them in. That should tell you something right there. When i took mine back, the guys in the store said that lots of people return them and are very unhappy with it. So i'm just trying to warn people about it!!!!

I won't recommend this. It over-powers the cabinet during live play when you plug-in headphones. Such a useless feature. Completely screws up your original cabinet sound.

The unit is shit. Too complicated so it distracts from your performance because half your brain is thinking about that damn unit and if you have it set up correctly.
