This is one of my all-time favorite bhajans. Being able to create my own rendition of Shiv Dhun and record the video in front of Shri Pashupatinath makes me feel really fortunate. To be able to sing of my Lord's splendor is a great blessing, for which I am incredibly thankful. I sincerely hope that you all like the bhajan just as much as we enjoyed making it.

Meditation Mantras: Embracing the Power of Lord Shiva
The Power of Lord Shiva #
Lord Shiva, one of the principal deities of Hinduism, symbolizes transformation and destruction, paving the way for creation and new beginnings. Shiva is often referred to as the "Destroyer" within the Trimurti, the Hindu trinity that includes Brahma and Vishnu. His divine energy helps in dissolving the ego and attachments, leading to liberation and spiritual awakening.
Mantras and Their Significance #
Om Namah Shivaya #
"Om Namah Shivaya" is one of the most powerful and revered mantras dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is known as the Shiva Panchakshari Mantra, where "Pancha" means five, referring to the five syllables "Na-Ma-Shi-Va-Ya."
- Om: The universal sound, connecting us with the cosmic vibration.
- Namah: Means "salutations" or "bowing to."
- Shivaya: Refers to Shiva, symbolizing the auspicious and benevolent.
Chanting this mantra invokes the energy of Shiva, bringing peace, clarity, and transformation.
Om Brahmaha #
"Om Brahmaha" is a less common mantra but holds significant power. It is an invocation to the supreme creator, Brahma. However, in some contexts, this could be a shorthand invocation of Brahman, the ultimate reality or universal spirit in Hindu philosophy.
- Om: The primordial sound.
- Brahmaha: Refers to Brahman, the universal consciousness.
This mantra helps align oneself with the divine consciousness and the source of all creation.
Meditation Practice #
1. Find a Quiet Space: Choose a peaceful and quiet place where you can sit comfortably without distractions.
2. Posture: Sit in a comfortable position with your spine straight. You can sit on a chair, a cushion, or directly on the floor. Place your hands on your knees or in a mudra (hand gesture) of your choice.
3. Breathing: Close your eyes and take a few deep breaths, inhaling through your nose and exhaling through your mouth. Gradually shift to a natural breathing rhythm.
4. Chanting the Mantras:
- Start with "Om Namah Shivaya." Chant it slowly, feeling each syllable resonate within you. Repeat it 108 times or for a duration that feels comfortable.
- Follow with "Om Brahmaha." Chant it with the same reverence and focus.
5. Visualization: As you chant, visualize a bright light or a symbol of Shiva (like the Shiva Lingam) in your mind's eye. Imagine this light filling you with divine energy, purifying and transforming your inner being.
6. Silence and Reflection: After chanting, sit in silence for a few minutes. Allow the vibrations of the mantras to settle within you. Observe any thoughts or feelings that arise without judgment.
7. Closing: End your meditation with a prayer or a moment of gratitude. Bow your head slightly as a gesture of respect and connection to the divine.
By regularly practicing these mantras and meditation, you can experience the profound power and blessings of Lord Shiva, leading to inner peace, transformation, and spiritual growth.

Feel free to incorporate these practices into your daily routine and witness the transformative power of Lord Shiva in your life.
