To Camel I noticed 2 Things that even YOU missed that you might be interested in knowing, the first a theory, the second can be confirmed by visiting The Elder Scrolls wiki page. 1) That fanged mouth with the forked tongue on Sheogorath's regalia that you mentioned looks like some kind of biker style tattoo, seems attached to something to the right of it when viewing this video that makes it look like a creature's head, almost something Lovecraftian, could be a Hunger with their long tongues and bulbous heads, they're rather fitting of the imagery. 2) For the New Sheoth Graveyard, Bhisha actually has a 2nd possible epitaph, and is the ONLY NPC in The Shivering Isles who has more than one available to them, that reads as follows: "In memory of sweet, harmless Bhisha" that spawns on his tombstone if he is killed before or after the quest "Ushnar's Terror".

"The Missing Pauldron" I believe actually refers to the fact that, in the base game of Morrowind (no Bloodmoon, no Tribunal), it is impossible to get a complete set of Daedric armor (without stealing). The one piece that is absent from the full set is the Daedric Left Pauldron. (could be the right, but I'm pretty sure it's the left) Because of this, unless you either kill Divaythe Fyr or (more wisely) disintegrate his armor and punch him unconscious so you can steal it off of him, it is impossible to get a full set of Daedric armor in base Morrowind due to a missing pauldron :P

31:37 Fun fact: If you do Sheogorath's Daedric quest and do NOT have Shivering Isles installed, Sheo will have a completely different voice, as it wasn't voiced by Wes Johnson in the original game, before Shivering Isles was released. The Shivering Isles is by far my favorite Elder Scrolls expansion. I remember the first time playing it while exploring it when I entered the city of Bliss my character which was a male khajiit just happened to be staring at a Golden Saint as the message of discovering the city which simply reads 'you found Bliss' came on the screen. My sisters found it hilarious at the timing when that message came up. Also about Sheo's regalia what appears like a wolf might not be a reference to wolves but to hyenas. What animal would Sheogorath probably love the most to have on his isle but an animal that uses maniacal laughter for communication like the hyena (he'd probably love Kookaburros too). Ironically though while we see laughter as humorous for hyenas their 'laugh' call is used to express anxiety and stress not very much for joy.

Hey I can actually speak to the ring! When we worked on the shivering isles the script for adding and removing items already existed in the base game, but immobilization didn't. Well, at least not in an easily reversible way. A "burden" effect was unable to be used without it showing up in both the journal and the player UI, and just changing player weight up and down was buggy when we tried it. So adding and removing a ring that can't be seen was way easier than making a whole damn script from scratch for immobilization which is way more difficult than you might think. The more you know!

That puncture in Sheogorath's back as said before - might be symbolic to the betrayal of the other gods. Or, you know, there's a dead man at the site where you fall from great heights if you try to attack him in any way and he teleports you there. Next to this man lies a dagger, which had no apparent meaning before until you pointed this out. Food for thought, ta!

Might also be because Sheogorath is the only one allowed to have a beard in his realm, that this man got so upset by the order of shaving it that he used the same dagger to try and stab Sheogorath in the back. There's a note on his body that's labeled "Death Degree" and it states that he was punished because of trying to grow a beard. Not much else is known but I take it as open for speculation

Snakes represent Lorkhan, whereas birds represent Auriel (maybe Trininac too) and dragons represent Akatosh. The bird slays the snake just as in the creation myth. The phoenix represents Auriel ascending to Aetherius. And I may be misremembering but Michael Kirkbride may have said that Sheogorath is the 'shadow of Akatosh'. It is fitting that the madgod is complementary to creation myths, as he is the counterpart to what exists physically, the god of not-there. Sheogorath is also well versed and takes advantage of the power of symbolism and mythopoeia, using the symbols of Mundus in his own plans, the most obvious being the Enantiomorph to make the new madgod.

Personally, I agree with other commenters who beat me to the punch, in that it's a symbolic representation of the other Daedra cursing Jyggalag to become Sheogorath. This betrayal is so intrinsic to the Shivering Isles expansion and the significance of the Greymarch's occurrence that given that a Greymarch is about to take place when the player character enters the isles, it seems much more appropriate than generalized paranoia.

It's not mental health and madness it's mania (madness) and demtia (the decline of all mental facilities). I think it's a nice theory but everyones seemed to have solved the representative meaning of the knife mark.

I absolutely love how "brutal" you are by today's standards of documentation. You explain and even joke about sensitive topics calmly and honestly with no exaggerated fake shock,(and cowering in fear as you await judgement by the advertiser overlords, as they send assassins after you for even hinting at something explicit) as so many youtubers do now. It's especially fitting with how Shivering Isles is absolutely full of references to so much real psychology and extreme cases of it.

It's quite likely that while some of the patterns on Sheogorath's clothes are deliberately selected for relevance to him, others are intentionally random, because he's mad, and it suits him well to wear something random, like his personality.

As much as I'd personally prefer for such a straightforward explanation to not be the case, it's been proven many times with reasons as to why game devs do certain things is that just because the answer seems simple, doesn't mean that it's incorrect.

@@olivercharles2930 That's what I would have thought, but look at all the other examples of cut content within Bethesda's games. Besides, given that the focus is on the god of Madness himself, would it really be that big a surprise? And if so, wouldn't it make it all the MORE relevant?

I wonder if maybe Sheogorath’s Regalia represents the life events of Sheogorath, past, present, and future. So the dragons may not hold meaning to “this” Sheogorath, but rather the Champion of Cyrodiil.

I'm pretty late to this party, and someone may have already said this, but I am wondering if the canine head on his clothing is in reference to his questline outside of the Shivering Isles, where dogs rain from the sky over the town of Border Watch.

A dragon eating a snake, it's two different serpents representing two sides of Shoegorath and his destiny to become Jyggalag. Its an ouroboros cycle. If you look deeper at it you could say the dragon even represents Akatosh and the reset of each Kalpa with Jyggalag always destined to reborn as Shoegorath no matter how hard he tries to escape

Blame Todd Howard. At some point, Todd got into the habit of simplifying things in both gameplay and the setting. Ironic given his habitual hypemongering and the start of his career at Bethesda. He'd even started it by the time of Oblivion, at least according to Michael Kirkbride, who claims we have Todd to blame for turning Cyrodiil from a funky Roman Jungle dotted with Ayleid towers and crisscrossed with rivers into temperate forest Lord of the Rings land. Because LOTR movies were popular then, you see. He's also the reason Skyrim went from a land full of wild mages weaving wind and ice magics the like of which are seen nowhere else, with average joes knowing the Thu'um, to Viking Game of Thrones. Because Game of Thrones was popular then, you see.

At 8:55 I couldn't help but notice that directly to the right of the fanged mouth appears to be the rest of the head of... whatever creature this is supposed to be. Looks kind of squid-like, to me. Perhaps this is another depiction of a Hunger? Additionally, as others have said the "bloody anomaly" could be a reference to his backstabbing from the other Daedra, but I also couldn't help but notice at 5:17 that it's on the same side as the dementia half of the face - the side of the Shivering Isles where you unravel a plot against the Duchess of Dementia and/or a reference to paranoia and backstabbing as court intrigue in general.
@samwiseb27992 жыл бұрын
Something that’s very cool that I never noticed beforehand but others have may have is that the Ring of Lordship rings each represent the different sides of Mania and Dementia, mania is very colorful and enchants your personality while Dementia basically is dark and gives you poison resistance.

Ahhh I really appreciate that you mentioned 1 not being a prime number, many people think a prime number is a number which can only be divided by 1 and itself, meaning 1 would be prime, but in fact a prime is a number with two factors. That is there exist two unique factors which divide the number, thus 2 is the smallest prime
