This is great! 40 years in Japan now ... and with literally thousands of mostly jazz and Brazilian CDs in my collection, Oregon's 'Out of the Woods' is my go-to soundtrack when driving through the misty mountains west of Tokyo.

@@michaelvaladez6570 Not quite. Glen stopped because it was too hard and too expensive to travel by plane with his upright bass, from what I've heard. Besides that after so many years of travelling/touring you want to settle down a bit when you reach a certain age. Glen will be 82 this year. He is doing well, living on the 'desert plains' of New Mexico, close to nature, horses etc. Also without Glen, Oregon will sadly very likely never play live again because Paul has problems with his embouchure and can no longer play his oboe and english horn which are crucial for so many Oregon pieces. He just plays his saxophones nowadays and mostly plays in California with different projects. He just turned 76. Ralph just released a new solo album on ECM and has turned 83 this year! Amazing musicians, each one of them, pioneers and highly influential.

This is only one song from Oregon´s concert at the Jazzfestival Viersen (a rather small ciity close to Dusseldorf, Germany) on 18 September 2009 and recorded by the German tv station WDR. I have been listening to the music of this outstanding group since 1978. The first record I bought was "Out of the Woods" and this song is on it. I saw them six or seven times live, three times with Collin.

This band is phenomenal. I don't even met people that even know who they are and then I can't get them to listen to them. They are true artists. I started listening to them from their first Album "Our First Album" and I was particularly drawn to "Canyon Song" and have been listening to them ever since. They keep getting better and better. I love their latest "Lantern".

You saw The Paul Winter Consort, or Paul after the Consort days? Either way, wow -- I saw TPWC when I was a zookeeper in Atlanta and they came to play for the zoo society's Beastly Feast fundraiser. I was actually leaving because my shift just ended and I heard the wolf howl from Wolf Eyes. o of course I stayed. And I got his autograph on a paper napkin but my ex threw it out by mistake. Geesh, what I'd give now to have that again. I can't imagine having had a chance to talk with him over a beer! Lucky man,
