16 years have passed. This is still the most stunning performance ever till today. Beautiful Ina Bauer. All the best Shizuka Arakawa. All the way......⛸

I agree since she also performed this so cleanly and so consistently.
Just being superior, gorgeous and passionate, I find one word in Japanese for describing her jubilation. That is '優雅', meaning 'graceful and florecent'. Whenever seeing her skating, I can proud myself for being a Japanese of all.

Shizuka was absolutely stunning in her performance, and pulled a major upset over the Russian and American skaters (both favorites to win and both made big errors) in order to win Japan the Olympic gold medal. Graceful, smooth edges and indeed the best ina bauer pose I have ever seen!

Also nice to see a woman win over the teenagers at the Olympics.

@@skatingcanuck9837 agree, but 21 and 27 (if we're talking about the medalists) are not the teenagers. More like women - all three of them - won over teenagers
This performance exemplifies what is so great about Japanese skating - speed, spins, jumps, footwork, quiet edges, and the whole package! Unfortunately today's skating is about the Russian quadominators and points - not the performance.

I am afraid I have to argue with you. For example Valieva and Shcherbakova have a full package. Jumps and performance. They are incredible.

@@polinalimberis4536 I agree that Valieva is a well rounded skater, but it hardly weakens my argument. Take a look at Russian programs vs. Japanese programs and please reread my comments.
I watched the Olympic Doc with her, she wanted to try for one more Olympic team. They also want to send Meo Asata but she was too young. I am glad she had gotten her chance she was their first gold medelist, and Japan has been a powerhouse ever since
