Shizuka is my favorite but that cheated combination and that outside edge on the flip smh. Lol. She would get HAMMERED by the judges today

Love her too, but her triple-triples were always at least a quarter short and her flip would surely be worthy of a "wrong edge" rather than an "edge unclear" call under the current IJS. To give her credit though, she made huge improvements in her extension and line, especially amazing because she did so well into her 20s. There must've been some VERY intense flexibility and stretching classes going on in the off season

So her flip actually flopped though. It’s not a lip. I’m sure she wasn’t aware nor bothered by it. Everyone makes mistakes at some point. But I felt that Mao was unfairly scrutinized even if she almost succumbed to competing against her formal rival. I previously thought that Shizuka’s only rival was herself.
