That parking lot with the fire extinguisher. There's a Ross neon sign in the background. Looks like Sunset Blvd in Los Angeles. If so there used to be a 24 hour internet café right there. I lived in that place for a few months back in 2003, drinking ice coffee and smoking cigarettes with no job or idea what to do. Desperate times. I kind of miss it. That was almost 20 years ago, holy moly. I love this song.

I saw Shlohmo at The Baby G in TO a little over a month ago (was able to get into the show for free as the venue owner is a friend who gave my fiancee and myself guest list), and it was such a fucking mind-blowing and incredible show...but he chose not to play this one. Perhaps it was just because he wanted to change his setlists from night to night on tour (which obviously is 100% understandable), but I always felt that this song was just so powerful and hit such a beautifully deep nerve, that I just unconsciously assumed he would play it. Then I see and hear this. I was moved to tears as what these boys got up to (minus the Hasidic Jewish garb and the LA backdrop/palm trees etc.) was, to an eerily similar T, exactly what my fellow hooligan buds and I were getting up to on a nearly nightly basis in my hometown throughout our youth. The soundtrack for much of the time on those starlit streets and in those hot-boxed sheds and cars? "Bad Vibes" by none other than Shlohmo himself. I feel like so much has changed, and somehow still, nothing has changed at all. We may not live in our hometown any more or keep in contact as much as we probably should, but those buds will always be buds, and if you were to put us in a room together with some green and some Shlohmo behind, it would feel just the same as it ever did. The great friends remain the great friends, and the great tunes remain the great tunes, no matter what else transpires or changes. Thank you forever and ever Shlohmo, for what you do, the feelings you inspire and the important truths you remind us of. It means so much to me.

it's smart, relatable, and visually rich, it's a very good music video. it also fits the track very well obviously, that feeling of hopelessness regarding Humankind and one's own existentialiste struggle. it's also one of my favourite ever.
