Amazing song! The drums are so awesome. They apparently had to fight the powers that be at the record company and insist on keeping the heavy drums which characterize the song and thank goodness they stood their ground because they were right.

You have to love Robin's oh girls. In the late 80's and 90's he took on an R&B boy band vocal style that really shines.

I really love this song. A-ha have a song like this (in sentiment) about being strong enough to let the other side win. Not suggesting who is right or wrong just a defiant resignation that if 'winning is that important to you, so be it'. I don't see what you get out of it but ok, win. We'll see soon enough who's right. I've been in that situation many a time. though I got to win a few (disproportionate) times. LOL

Lotsa things goin' on. Was their comeback-smashhit in 1987, Nr. 1 all over Europe, some Asia, Australia and South America. Not US, because of the crime of backlash. The stomp, created by Maurice, powerful singing of Barry on lead, Robin comin' in between with vibrato-adlibs. Just a banger at all. Barry woke up in the middle of a night, so he's got the chorus like out of nowhere. Took his lil recorder to not loose it and he often did so. Next day they finished the song together in their middle-ear-studio in Miami.

Love this one. The track was a real departure in style for them with that chugging drum beat, like some factory compressor machine. Number one in the UK. Plus a video by the same directors of Duran Duran's Notorious.

I'm digging the Stomp! And great reaction on all points with this one. It has such a bright, open feel to it. The vocals are next level! And even though the song begins with the narrator talking about his lover kicking him when he's down and using him, the song is not a downer. Instead, he wants to work their relationship and save it, and that is the attitude the music reflects. She might win the battle of love, but he's planning on winning the war! He's going to wear down her defenses. "Nobody stops this body from taking you. You better beware, I swear!" I love the delivery on that line! This song is uplifting because he knows he's going to win her back. "Some never try, but if anybody can, we can." Great lyrics, music, vocals, everything!
