I remember this clearly. The time when Japanese fans were not ready for a new star, and desperately clinging to Dice. Poor baby Yuzu. This was the time this boy stole my heart. He was so brave facing the most painful experience an athlete could ever face, being booed by his own people.

sayonara bitches I don’t actually understand anything in the commentary and I’m new to figure skating, but I’ve heard that this was the period (around 2012) where Yuzuru Hanyu started to overtake Daisuke Takahashi, who was The Japanese men’s figure skater then. Takahashi’s fans (there are a lot of them btw) didn’t take Yuzu’s wins over him well, and at Japanese nationals and I think also the NHK trophy (both where Yuzu won over him) were booing Yuzu during the medals ceremony. I can’t find video proof online anywhere except for old accounts, presumably because it’s such an old event and many don’t want to post the videos they have, but that’s what I understand. If I’m wrong on anything, someone please do correct me.

@@heart-oe7sg they dont want to post it since it bring shame to their people...Daisuke fans are worst...and until today, not even a single word coming out from Daisuke...he should apologise and be the role model to show sportmanship..but nooooo.... FS became more notice since Yuzu step into senior and debut on wc 2012.. He show how to behave to other competitor and can be friends with them...respect in every level from coach to crew, even to the ice staff... Fanyus learn that from Yuzu..and do the same to respect other athletes... But Dai?...well...you see how his fans behave and how he just smile watching young Yuzu got booed...

@@sarahahmed1606 I think it was Yuzuru's first time winning a national champion title as a senior skater and the crowd are mostly fans of Daisuke, who won silver. Daisuke was the most famous skater that time in Japan. They were angry because they were not satisfied with the results of their favorite being dethroned by a 17 years old. I'm a new fan so I'm not sure but i saw fans saying Hashimoto was in charge of JSF in 2012, and Hashimoto love and favor Daisuke so much that she tolerated and encouraged all the antis and media to hate Yuzuru. She still hates Yuzuru to this day for more reasons. And Dai fans still holds a grudge and resentment towards Yuzuru. Yuzuru was only 17 or 18 that time, he was so happy winning his first national title, but when he got on the podium, Daisuke fans BOOED him and no one even bother telling the crowd to stop and at least be respectful. Even Daisuke beside him was acting normal and smiling despite the booing. There are screenshots of tweets from people who was in the crowd that time saying the people on the audience are either booing or leaving. He's a teenager, a kid compare to everyone in the stadium, yet no one lifted a finger when the audience publicly bullied him.

Daishuke looked so incredulous! He cannot believe he's been defeated by a young upstart. Yuzuru is very sad because the fans of Daishuke could not accept that their hero is beaten. It is a very human emotion because the Japanese fans are very passionate . I am sure Yuzuru has won over a lot of them on his side. And of course Yuzuru has been on top of the Podium and he is the G.O.A.T for the last 12 years and now as a Professional, Yuzuru is alone at the TOP. He must be lonely, it is a heavy burden at times to be on top! But thanks to Fanyu's around the world who continue to follow and support him. Yuzuru is very special person, hopefully he feels the love and adoration from his fans, and we love him even if he will stop skating!
how sad it is that he was belittled by his own people, Japanese people, who are known for their respect.. and those people are now cheering for him, as if they didn't give him a sad memory of his win.. disgusting. he was only 17, can't believe how much he rose up from that point.
This is not everything of this medal ceremony! I have seen the ENTIRE medal ceremony! It's so awful to see how much Japanese paople hated and bued out 17 year young Yuzuru so he was ashamed and crying on his podium! Why you did it? I think all Shoma fans who are complaining about Yuzu have to watch this video. Yuzu construted his image trugh the years and with the help of his sempais in Japanase nats. Dai was the first in support Yuzu and made the people respect him. Yuzu did the same with Shoma. I feel ashamed the fans didn't know about the true history, and believed that Yuzu is egoist and inflated by the media. Now that Shoma is the champion, is his chance to show respect for his sempai and kuhai as the previous champions did. I'm truly happy about the result of Uno and Kagiyama medals, but at the same time dissapointed about all they said about Yuzu.
