I can remember a friend of mine going to a Callaway demo day and picking up this 5 wood. He hit so good he asked the fitter about it. Fitter said there is a ladies shaft in that club and it wouldn’t suit you🤔 I think we are all guilty of thinking we are better than we actually are. We are not tour pro’s but we buy tour like clubs. Way not make this difficult and frustrating game a little bit easy by using clubs that we help you. Great video Andy,I think it will open a few people’s eyes.

Andy, I greatly appreciate this video, as well as your previous video on shorter shafted drivers. I ate the ego and switched to shorter, lighter, weaker shafted drivers (12 deg), woods and hybrids along with lighter reg shafted irons. I also added 7 wood. Slowed the rhythm and do not notice decrease in distance. Problems arise when I try to rip it. You provide a great service.

Whilst I do not watch a lot of the LPGA tour, every time I do watch some, I really enjoy it. The ladies hit the ball a distance I can relate to, they plot their way around the course rather than simply trying to overpower it. I think most of us male amateurs could learn a lot from the rhythm that the ladies demonstrate with their swing. As for the shaft, I would struggle with the light weight. I am just one of those players who is sensitive to shaft weight. 55g in a driver shaft is as low as I am comfortable with, similarly with irons 80-95g is the sweet spot for me. I have tried lighter shafts and they just do not work as well for me

Excellent video. I picked up a barely used set of PXGs 0211s 6-PW-GW for $375. The shafts are senior shafts and weigh 50g. I normally used shafts 100+ g. My swing is much better with the lighter shafts. Also more repeatable.

Nice looking set. I’ve seen them in the golf shop as I’m often looking for something that my wife might be interested in. A little side note that hopefully ties into the video: Quite a few years ago when Nick Price was number 1 in the world I was lucky enough to attend a private session with him at the Memorial in Dublin Ohio. I asked him if there was anything in particular he would work on , on the range before the tournament the next day. Without hesitation he said,” tempo .” And he said if he had to guess that’s what almost everyone on the range would be working on. I thought that was fascinating.

Excellent video Andy! Everything you say is so true. The odd thing is… I saw the images of these when they first came out not long ago and it is one of the nicest looking sets of clubs on the market. Even nicer looking than some of the stuff they make for the men! The colours are gorgeous, you played superbly with these and I commend you for doing this video because it does relate to both genders very well. Now if Taylor made would’ve just thrown in genuine tailor-made mini skirt and a set of high heels… You could practice your balance as well as being the coolest dude on the course Which would be very amusing. Just kidding you Andy… Thanks again from Canada

Most of us I would guess do use more forgiving clubs (game improvement). Likely many of them perform close to the same. Most average golfers don't have the club speed to really need stiff shafts, heavy shafts (slow the average golfer's swing really), or even ProV1 balls (can't compress them enough to really use their multi-core for more distance). I enjoy your videos because they are aimed at me. I'm older (56) and your advice is right at me.
@maalekar2 жыл бұрын
BTW I play Adams A3OS, which has hybrids for 3-5. They really help those long iron shots be "easy" as you say. I KNOW I hit the 3 200, and down 190 for 4, and 180 for 5. Much better in the rough as they glide through longer grass. The one disadvantage is a buried ball in long grass... I've gone to my 6 for those.
@bund4402 жыл бұрын
I think you are absolutely right, we have been sucked into the low loft, low spin high launch equals distance. When in reality most of us don’t generate the club head speed to match the capability of the club.

Interesting video. It would be interesting to see you try a test on your tempo. Maybe have to do it on the SIM where you can get a baseline of your "slower" swing with the ladies club that you are having success with. Then try the same tempo/speed with your regular bag of sticks. See if its the tempo making you play more consistent or the shaft/head combos from this set.

Trust the fitting process - the main point I suggest to take away from Andy's video is that clubs/shafts are not a one size fits all and people can be too narrow minded in their perception of what truly suits their game. So what if you're brand new golfer who needs a stiff shaft? If you go and hit enough different brands, different shaft profiles and combinations, there are going to be a number of them that are way better suited to YOU than others. I started playing golf 30 years ago and was always a reg/senior flex due to my swing and game. Recently been fitted again into a Lightweight Stiff shaft when I'm 20 years older......... doesn't "make sense" but it just works.....
@johnk.atchley50792 жыл бұрын
Andy, Do you think that a ladies or senior flex shaft that is shorter than a men's senior flex shaft of the same weight would be slightly stiffer and thus easier to control? I see charts and graphs with the bend profiles of different models of the same shaft presented in great detail, so I assume the same kind of analysis would apply when comparing these two.

Re badge them for men no one will know and they will fly off the shelf. I have always played a light shaft, Cobra super light in all woods and hybrids. 45g Project X LZ in the irons. Works for me , get height an control. I did change on driver because at faster speeds the light shaft causes more side spin so a regular TM Adventis Blue gets less spin more distance still with height and control. I suspect if Andy keeps the same tempo with his “man” clubs he will continue scoring well but unless you have a v quick swing speed light shafts help.

Andy this is what I have been preaching for years. Most people hit shafts to stiff for them. Sophie Walker hits stiff shafts, she only hits her 7 iron around 130 yards, obviously she should hit sr or women's shafts. Sophies ego hurst her game. You have a short back swing and under 100 mph swing, you should be hitting regular shafts. I play in a sr league, I am a small guy 5 foot 8 and I weight 165. I hit sr shafts, my 7 iron is 155 and my drives are around 230. Most of the guys I play with hit stiff shafts and I out drive them. I am 65 years old and I am a 7 handicapper. I talked a 50 year old I play with into trying a sr shaft vs his stiff and it got rid of his slice and he picked up 15 years. I do not trust fitters, figure it out on the course where it matters.
