the first time i saw it i thought it was really bad compared to RHPS. but a friend pointed out (they said on the extra features) that you shouldn't think of it as a "sequel" but just another movie (i mean related to it but not a "Rocky Horror 2"). and if you think of it like this its a really good movie =O and the songs are just as good =]

Of course it's pathetic! It's suppose to be a parody of The Conservative Macho Male! It's a brilliant reverse of "In Just 7 Days I Can Make You A Man!" from RHPS! If Dr. Frankenfurter's mockery of Rocky's exercise regimen could be played opposite this, they would both deliver the same message: manhood is a subjective term and it's ridiculous to define it by personal preferences! Another O'Brien masterpiece! He and Richard Hartley are definitely the Gilbert & Sullivan of the rock-n-roll age!

His character is supposed to be the prime of masculinity and such for that show they were on. If you were to crack a little sensitivity he would go out and do something manly to avoid the situation. Understood. I was just making the point that it's a common, human flaw to confuse the term "real man/woman" and "IDEAL man/woman." Few people that I've known qualify as IDEAL, myself included. As for REAL, I still maintain that this is a subjective term regardless of sexual and esthetic preferences. My view. Yours may vary, as is your priviledge.

Shock Treatment is almost a reversal of Rocky Horror. In Rocky Horror, Brad and Janet come from a conservative heterocisnormative world, and they both hold up fairly closely to the traditional gender roles. They enter into a world of sexual liberation where people break away from traditional gender roles. In Shock Treatment, Janet has become more empowered while Brad has become a bit more soft. Here, they are pulled into a world holding to traditional gender expectations (as shown with this song), run on reality TV and corporate greed.
