The toucan became iconic for Guinness in the 1930s and 40s, thanks to a marketing campaign by artist John Gilroy. Guinness wanted to create memorable advertisements, so they used various animals, each symbolizing Guinness in a playful way. The toucan became particularly popular because of its bright colors and striking look. It was often shown balancing a pint of Guinness on its beak, with slogans like “Lovely day for a Guinness.” The idea was to link Guinness with positive, uplifting images, and the toucan, with its exotic flair, captured people’s attention. The toucan stayed a symbol for decades and is still associated with Guinness, even if it’s no longer in their main ads!

I love watching ppl's experiences in Dublin (& beyond). Locals won't really got to temple bar, but for someone on their first trip it's not a bad idea. Yes it's expensive, but it's the only place you'll find so many bars in one place all with music on all day and night. I just can't believe you went back the for more punishment the next morning. That scene in Fitzsimmons just looked grim lol. Ya would of been better off In somewhere like the Ha'penny Inn (edge of temple bar/ on the quay) nice quiet pint In a proper pub👌 Few notes on the pubs for anyone watching. mahons has changed hands recently and got a bit of a makeover. Its niche is it has a micro brewery on site and usually have a few options on tap. Cassidys was once a standard run of the milll pub, but was turned in to what you'd call a dive bar somewhere years ago. So yeah dimly lit, craft/alt beere on tap. Usually loud music from glam to grunge. . You passed by a nice pub called the palace probably would of been a better stop for yous , one last pint and chat before the madness of temple bar. Beers. Koppaberg mixed fruit is weaker in Ireland cos when. It first launched it's was over 6%, and was quickly taxed as a wine, so they brought it down. The orchard thieves you had is not Irish, it's brewed by Heineken but don't think it's market as Irish, it's available across Europe and is basically sugar syrp, theve receantly launced a more natural brewed one , on the lines of Ireland most popular cider Bulmers (magners in the UK ) Spirits. As someone mentioned an Irish measure is about 10 mil for than UK, so you don't get options like double up for a pound etc. but yes still very expensive for 35ml. Best to maybe have 1 or 2 at the end of the night . Once you've done temple bar , alternatives would be Camden street, and maybe caple street. That has recently being pedestrianised and has good atmosphere come night time. And something random. Your hotel was opposite the theatre that Beatles played Thier one and only (or their last Irish gig) I'm the facade is still there. Its the entrance to car park to the department store. Its was called the adelphi. The pub beneath your hotel used to be named it before a recent rebrand

That is the Spire of Dublin. It is around 394 feet tall. A statue of British Admiral Horatio Nelson stood there until 1966 when the IRA partially blew it up (who saw it as a lingering symbol of British rule over Ireland and it was also the 50th anniversary of the 1916 Easter Rising) and it was demolished. It stood mainly vacant until the Spire was built in early 2000's.

Lee you mad C>n/ lol. MAHON'S PUB IS PRONOUNCED MAAA HANS but all one word lol, and GOGARTY'S is PRONOUNCED GOG ARTYS but again all one word lol pal, where you and the lads had breakfast neil would have loved it there the night before downstairs lol, sticky carpets grab a granny 😂😂😂.. 5 mins walk down the tram line is your bus stop back to the airport from your accommodation, 5 mins walk up the tramline is the old jameson Distillery, and another 5 mins or so and across the river liffey is the guiness brewery for futire refrence, deffo worth a visit once. But from youre accommodation in most directions if you walk 15-20 mins you lads will come across loads of pubs with pints from 6euro upwards even collaberg lol, and just a heads up on the measures in ireland i cant remember the mls but we have at least another third in our glases than you get in england, i tink you lads have 36mls and ours is 56mls somit like that, so way bigger measure than back home, you have done templebar and that this time, and now time to go further away from the city centre but not to far lol, and as i recommended on someone elses comment, go to GALWAY its beautiful, but still expencive in certqin bars and that, cork is nice, KERRYis stunning, traLEE is 1 town there, see what i done there "neil" 😂😂, and KILLARNEY IS STUNNING ALSO, and KERRY has its own airport also. So i can definitely say you lads have plenty of reasons to come back to IRELAND again and again for content, cheers pal

Cheers mate, we’ll definitely be back. Had to do the tourist thing the first time. Next time, we’ll do a proper Dublin experience hopefully a lot cheaper.
