SUGA was b-boy ing before BTS. He would be definitely be part of the dance line if it wasn't for his injury and chronic pain. He doesn't stuggle to learn the dances and executes them always flawlessly but he was hit by a car before BTS debuted and got a really bad shoulder injury. He didn't even tell the company at first because he was scared they would not let him debut. If he would be in the dance line, he would get way more centre time and harder parts of the choreo or solos and he simply cannot do that to not further injure himself. He still struggles with his shoulder and sometimes uses only one arm because he is in pain. A lot of the members have sustained really bad injuries and are under chronic pain - just like athletes. A dancer is an athlete and they work with their bodys. Of course ARMY don't want to see them in pain or get injured but that's oftem part of the job. Footballers or skiers wouldn't just quit after an injury. I remember a skier even duct taping a plate on his back so he could keep himself upright to do the race.

A chronic injury like this is unpredictable - sometimes it hurts, sometimes it doesn't. of course he is able to go off for most of their performances but being a "dance line" member means a lot of solo performances that can cause more harm.

Deeper & Better: The camera moves in "deeper" for closeups. Knew U Want This: Steadier cam to take in the whole choreography. I still can't believe one of those masked men was just Lee Know from Stray Kids when he was a baby. I love Not Today the song, but not the MVs. They did Jin dirty. Even the choreo kind of wrongs him cause while that Flying V formation is cool as hell, it blocks him off. Also I do really love the part where they're being "shot" and all the dancers collapse only for BTS to revive them and to lead the march back into "battle" and then lock arms in front of them to be their bulletproof shields.

Jimin really is very expressive, he manages to show exactly what the music what the performance and choreography is asking for only with his body and facial expressions. And he is very detailed in his choreography, he makes each beat of the music with his body, as he dances many rhythms he knows how to express himself well. All boys are very good at facial expressions and using their bodies well for dancing. 💜

I loved all the comments and insights as usual. 😁 On a remembered note: I agree with Blaze on Suga/Yoongi with the dance line, knowing that he did b-boy years ago. But he did bust his shoulder up when he was hit by a car before they debuted and didn’t tell anyone for the longest time so I don’t think it ever healed quite correctly. That may be one of the reasons 🤷🏻‍♀️ I have noticed he will occasionally favor it in intense choreo, like during this last comeback with ON and Black Swan. The practice version is worth watching too. You get the sheer size and scope of the dance. True story time: When this came out I was working a job with an extremely toxic environment. It was killing me physically and emotionally. Like I'd wake up in the morning and cry and negotiate with myself just to get out of bed. And this was the first time in a long time I had that feeling of "I NEEDED this song right now" when hearing a song. The lyrics, especially the "Today we will survive" was like they were for me. Shortly after I started planning to quit, but I had to wait about 5 months to actually do it. Every morning (and whenever it got real hard during the day) for the those 5 months I played this, it was like inspirational armor. You know that clip of RM saying if BTS even helps just 1% it's worth their existence? This was that for me. Plus the choreo is OMG.

DAY 31 NO HAIRCUT... ME TOO ADAM. ME TOO. (The difference is I actually look bad.) The Not Today choreo is just incredible. The boys performed this song on the Love Yourself: Speak Yourself tour, and I was lucky enough to see it live last year. Crazy energy. As for the MV, Jimin definitely stands out in this one, you're right Blaze. Regarding Suga being on dance line, here's what I have to say. I see a lot of people in the comments giving this and that reason for him not being on there (prefers to be in the back, doesn't like physical activity, hurt himself in the past, blah blah), but at the end of the day, the reason is this: Not everyone can be on dance line, lol. It's important to understand that not being on dance line _doesn't_ mean someone is a bad dancer. All the guys in BTS are amazing dancers, we can clearly see that! But when a member of a group is on the dance line, it means they _excel_ at dancing to the point where they are likely to be featured for it in live performances (for example, you saw that each dance line member had a dance-based solo at the 2019 MMAs) and they are able to function as examples for other members during dance practice. Yoongi is a really, REALLY great dancer, that is _very_ clear. But he just isn't quite on dance line's level. Taehyung was not either, initially. He had to work for many years to gain that extra polish. 3J (j-hope, Jimin, & Jungkook), the original dance line, are a powerful trio... and j-hope and Jimin, the group's main dancers, are two of the best in the entire industry and have devoted their entire lives to dance. It's a hard bar to match! Most groups BTS' size don't even have two main dancers, they only have one. That just illustrates the kind of talent that leads BTS on the floor. Dancing is unique for the group in that it's something all of them are required to do. They don't all have to rap, so of course they're not all on rap line; they rarely all have to sing, so naturally they're not all on vocal line. There's only one leader, that's RM. Etc etc. And while the rap and vocal lines also have a "main" performer that acts as that section's mini-leader, it's on a smaller scale, so it seems to be easier to swallow for (most) fans. But inevitably, the group needs dance leadership, so skill levels _must_ be compared. I find that after watching dance practice videos over and over, focusing on each member individually in each video, I see consistent results that line up with how the group is arranged. Does anyone else notice in 14:43 how Jimin "helps" ( i use quotations because I think it may be part of the choreography) one of the backup dancers ... like I love that songs is about no falling and keep fighting right, but the fact that they say it not for just themselves individually but also help whoever is struggling to get up and keep fighting ... it's just woah! I don’t know if anyone told you guys but the days they were shooting the MV it was super cold. To the point where they were wearing those big parkas. Even with the cold and them being tired the MV is AMAZING. It’s just another testament to their professionalism, determination, and dedication.
