Well done Czech, most tourist's just see Sydney and Bondi. If your looking for day trips from Sydney. I would recommend a Ferry trip from Circular Quay to Parramatta, plenty of restaurants and nice parks, if your looking for Indian food go to Harris Park, which is a 20 minute walk from Parramatta. Other suburbs worth a look are Cabramatta which has a big Vietmanese community, Katoomba and the Blue Mountains. Redfern is also a very interesting suburb close to Sydney. Hopefully this helps, goodluck Czech safe Travels.
@jsir7386 сағат бұрын
I would say Surry Hills and Redfern areas offer way more than the CBD and lots of great hidden away spots there too, easily my favourite areas when visiting near the main CBD area.
@shanedeuatown23186 сағат бұрын
@jsir738 Surrey Hills has that cool vibe to it, Redfern is getting there, it has that edge to it that I like of all mixes from wealthy to poor and everything in between and the Indigenous cultures as well.
@Davo-i1s7 сағат бұрын
Did you consider that some cultures do not like to have their pictures taken so walking around with a camera filming them may not be welcomed.. When you venture into areas like Blacktown you are going to find immigrants and cultures from all around the world some will be friendly and welcoming and others will not. When I was in the states in Santa Monica with my wife in 2000 I was taking some video of the streetlife like tourists used to do in those days before Utube was invented. A black guy who had been doing basketball tricks came over to and physically threatened me. He said that he was going to smash my camera and I suspect the main reasion was that we were white but I still give him the benefit of the doubt. . Sometimes you need to understand the risk in the areas that you go into before you shove cameras in peoples faces. Dont kid yourself that you are well known here because the reality is that most people in Australia have never heard of you or know that you have a Utube channel. Did you actually see any native born Aussies in Blacktown I think most of them probably moved out of there years ago ?

I'm guessing that The "black" in Blacktown doesn't necessarily have anything to do with skin color.
@thehandlerman10 сағат бұрын
@incubus_the_man it does though. It was named after a school for native children was built in colonial times. Sadly a lot of those children were forcibly taken from their families.
@incubus_the_man9 сағат бұрын
@thehandlerman that sounds a lot like the American Indian boarding schools they had in the US. They objective of "civilizing" or forcefully assimilating Native American children into Anglo-American culture culture not allowing them to keep any of their traditions. It was a way of killing the native culture without killing the people.
@mrsturnbull46987 сағат бұрын
@@incubus_the_man The area was originally known as "The Blacks Town" because it was the site of the Black Town Native Institute, a school for Aboriginal children, established in 1823. The name was later shortened to "Blacktown" when the railway station was built there in 1860. In those days the Aboriginal people were very disadvantaged so the different Charities tried in their own way to help and set up a school sad thing was that some of the good things they thought were helping were the opposite .. It was not derogatory or racist it was just where most lived then and part of their history was left to remind us all of the first Nation peoples.

I was happy to hear you say zed instead of zee.
@louisekindred00596 сағат бұрын
I'm finding your videos informative Czech. Just a little note. In Australia, we don't say Zee in our lingo. We say Zed might be why there's a bit of confusion when you tell ppl your name. Just a thought. When I lived a few suburbs away from where you are now, cows roamed around, lol. That whole area has grown so much. Back in the 80s, all these areas were farms. Local veges and meat, etc. Sold by the side of the road. Cows roamed freely on farms, and it was beautiful. Mountains are in the distance as you are not too far from the base of the blue mountains. It's the last suburbs before the Great Dividing Range/ Blue Mountain's and the end of the Sydney basin. Ppl here are called "westies. "... appropriately named as ppl living west of Sydney. The area through the '80s was developed and became predominantly for low income families. This low income housing, called Housing Commission, was built and Gov't run. Over the years, more and more ppl populated these areas. Farms disappeared, roads/highways now freeways popped up due to all the houses, and the rest is history. Another thing became possible in the years that followed. Low income families were allowed to buy HC houses. Well, you can bet the Housing Commission are cursing on the other side of their faces now, lol.. I bought my house for $70,000 back then on a huge block of land from the HC ( renamed Housing Dept nowadays I think ). However, I sold up and moved to a farm up north in the '90s. I found out just the other day that the houses there where you are standing and surrounding suburbs are now selling upwards of a million + dollars for nothing special. Better housing a lot more ! The price you pay for living in Sydney now is ridiculous due to limited land. So everyone tends to buy older houses because they, as a rule, have good big Aussie size blocks of land. It's a shame progress has put a stop to this once awesome lifestyle now. Greedy developers now cram two houses or flats/town houses on the one block of land. Overseas buyers bought up our properties. Plus, due to mass migration to here as well has stifled our housing market. Everything has sky-rocketed, unfortunately. The Gov't is now looking into changing rules to overseas buyers. A lot don't live here they just went crazy with investing, and all the empty houses could be used for Australian families who are now severely suffering because of this. I'm sure most countries are in the same boat, too. Just near you is Penrith. They have a man-made lake. It was built for the 2000 Olympic Games for the rowing events, etc, just as a matter of interest. Also, about a 30-minute drive south, from you now, is the new Sydney Airport which is under construction as well to take air traffic pressures off Mascot Airport in Sydney. Big changes are coming, Czech ! Sack our useless Gov't in power now, and we'll all be in for better times and happier😂❤
