In reality how could nac return to play spencer his role in the Netflix series was supposed to have wrapped back in February but filming went on until April. Unless he signed on for another year or two how could he come back when his contract was due to be up in June.

Maybe they were hoping he would come back to wrap up the Sprina story, since they gave him a contract "out" to do the Netflix series. It's definitely a huge loss for the show in that he is an amazing actor and should go far in his career, if he nabs the right roles.
