Watch out for frost heaves approaching the very long lake approaching Destruction Bay. Been there done that. If the road sign shows you reduce speed for curves or frost heave, slow down! Those frost heaves going over 40-45 can cause your sliders jump track by a few teeth. Very sad situation, been there done that. Extremely costly by total of $14k. Take it easy with caution, passing those slower RV units means those people will travel along without damages. Be safe first!

There is nothing better than nurses in an emergency! Not even doctors. Highest respect for you both. After see only one of you goof ball videos, I had no idea you were actually trained professionals. My niece in law is an ER nurse! Wow! She is so very impressive, responsible, well trained, and extremely empathetic! What goes around comes around. You are building good Karma for when it’s you turn to need help. Bless you! 💕

Thank you for stopping to help those people. Also thank you for making it clear that people should stop if safe to do so. I am a Canadian and when you hear that 95% of the population has access to internet and cell service everyone thinks that it's only in remote areas like where you are travelling. I grew up in the rural area just approximately an hour north of Montreal and it's considered the lower Laurentians. My sister lives a little further up in the hills/mountains than us and her house has no cell service and StarLink isn't even available in her area. A neighbour of theirs had a health crisis and it took 45 minutes for an ambulance to come because there are so few ambulances. Sometimes the wait for medical isn't because of distance, it's lack of resources and multiple emergencies because of the terrain.

Tell ya a little story. I be following you's two's on the vids. I work at a mine you passed by on the Cassiar hwy near Iskut. I've been working in mine's in the Cassiar for 35 years. It's been fun to watch cause I've been hauling RV's up there since the 80's. The Cassiar used to be dirt mostly with single lane baily bridges. It's only sine the late 90's that most of those bridges have been replaced. I can't even begin to start with stories of broken axels and the like. If you towed a tent trailer you simply would not make it. They were abandoned all along 37. I also have driven into Yukon and Alaska in my old 86 Toyota pickup. It served me well going over most of the highways and parallel ruts. One story I'll never forget is a fellow I worked with in the 90's as a diamond driller. Your stopping to help as ERT for the incident reminded me. This dude was caretaking a fishing lodge on Totaddy lake 35 km off the Robert Campbell highway sometime in the mid 80s. He became very ill. He was unable to get ahold of anyone on the radio due to severe sun storms. They would play havoc on radio comms then. He decided to hike the 35 km out to the Robert Campbell. He was very weak but new if he didn't try he would probably perish. On the second day he had a Grizzly attack him. He says he played dead and the Bruin left. Although he remarked that he can never get the smell of that boar's breath out of his mind. After recuperating on the trail for a day he continued his trek/crawl to the highway all smashed up with dried blood and injuries abounding. He made it out! But when he got to the road he saw a pickup truck 500m west with a pair of legs protruding out from under. When he got there the man was deceased as the jack had slipped and had pinned him under the truck. Soon an RV came along but did not stop as the man looked all bloodied and thought they better not get involved! Hours later a transport came along and stopped and picked up ol Larry Snegg and took him into Watson Lake. Larry lived and I heard the tale first hand! A true story! Thanks for stopping Hanks!

Have been watching you guys on your trip. Thanks to you for stopping to help. We were on the Tok cutoff 8 days ago and came across same situation, only motorcycle rider hit a moose. We were second on the scene. Same problems, no cell, we had a starlink in our group and got it setup. Finally got state patrol in from tok (25 miles) in 45 minutes, ambulance in hour. Another nurse and a las vegas fireman stopped, did all they could. 3.5 hours we were finally back on the road. Road through destruction bay a real challenge. We are back in lower 48 today. Camped at Glacier NP. You be safe and enjoy your trip. Well keep watching.

My family did the Alaska Highway back in 1966. At that point it was over a 1000 miles of dirt road. Constant clouds of dust as we passed other cars. We had a station wagon with a Cox pop-up camper in tow at the time. First thing after setting up for the night was to clean up the layers of dust inside the camper.

You made it! Welcome! We just completed the drive from PA to Alaska in May. Destruction bay is serious! Kudos to Yukon for at least marking frost heaves. However I now think signs posted for “gravel road ahead”really mean “brace! 12” drop off the asphalt ahead” 🤪

We used to live in Whitehorse for many years. On several occasioons we were confronted with motor vehicle accidents. In a couple of instances with serious, but not life threatening, injuries. An ambulance being more than an hour away is pretty common. Often you'd have to rely on a passing trucker who had a sat phone to contact 911. These accidents are bad enough in summer. Imagine how much more perilous if it is winter and say twenty or thirty...or more...degrees below freezing! And often the closest medical facility might be a nursing station...not a full hospital!

My wife and I went around Destruction bay in June 2016. It was rough, max speed was about 20mph and we passed an RV pulling a car that had run off the road. I am a licensed Amateur radio operator and had my radios with us in case problems came up that required help, but everything went well for us and our trailer and rig.

I live in Alaska and have driven the Alaska Hwy many times. The section between destruction Bay and Tok AK is always under construction and rough. The road can be different year to year, month to month or even day to day, depending on how you catch it. Travel in Canada and Alaska is slower in summer because of construction, mostly 2 lane roads and condition of the roads from winter damage also more visitors so more time is needed to travel, however IMO the drive to Alaska is one of the highlights of the trip to Alaska. Something you will always remember. I enjoy your videos maybe I will see you on the road.

There are a lot of "loose nuts behind the Wheel " on the Alaska Highway! We left Dawson City approx 3 weeks ago. Top of the World was great on Yukon side. Good for several paved miles west of the US/Canada border then a slow wi ding gravel Alaskan Rd to Chicken, then be prepared to slow down, dodge, brake, enjoy the vistas. Too to Destruction Bay was way better but prepare to drive cautiously. Travelled portions of the Highway are better than the paved section. Road graders filled the low spots.

My airstream pantry flew open 5 times from MN to FL last week, with everything in it. only the pans fell out, and I could hear that from the truck! The TV fell off the wall, and cabinets flew open. And that was just from the MN Shakedown on Highway 94! Also, we stopped at the Loves RV stop in Normal IL at 1AM and at Cordelle GA at 1AM and both times it was great and about $46. The Cordelle GA stop had what I'd call a "squatter RV" that should have been towed away months ago, in an RV that looked like a portable homeless shelter. That was a bit unnerving. Otherwise the Loves RV stops are becoming a regular for us.

I agree on the using a lot of water when flushing the toilet, but I believe you can back off on the amount of added water as the tank hits anywhere near half full. There's enough fluid in there then that things won't build up in one spot like they can when you first empty the tank. Another great episode. Thanks.

That road is much better than it was, originally. This new road was built in 1985. Before that, it was very narrow, almost all dirt, and the mountain roads didn't even have guardrails. There was one stretch, where vehicles would often go over. It was so steep that they would rescue (or usually bring up the bodies) and leave the vehicles. The yare still down there, today.

Drove the Cassiar Hwy back in the early '80s, it was beautiful. My gf and I were in an RV, well a '69 VW camper van, that's an RV isn't it? Yep, the road was all gravel back then and pretty lonely except for the occasional trucker. Strangest thing to happen to us was rounding a curve and finding the bridge we had to cross was on fire, engulfed in flames. Nobody around on either side of the bridge, can't cross it, so we had to turn around. We couldn't even remember how far back another road was. So feeling really lost and dejected we headed back. But within about 200ft. we see this little two track, covered in fallen branches, take off of the shoulder and a single diamond sign with an arrow on it pointing up. What did we have to lose, drove on down it and got to the creek crossing and could see the burning bridge to our right and a creek that was about 12"-18" deep. At that point you decide you're either going to live in BC for awhile or you're going to gun it across this creek. When we got to the next gas station and asked about the bridge of fire we learned it was simply the most economical way to remove the bridge. They didn't see my humor in adding some warning signs.

@@dtgodin I'm sure that's true...But Million-dollar motorhomes have air ride suspension and they take the rough roads a lot better than a camper...✌

The rural west has many many dirt roads. And we say if you drive fast enough you just hit the tops of the bumps. Unless it’s washboard y. Then ya better slow down so you don’t lose control.

We went to Alaska in 2019 and the road from Destruction Bay to Tok was the worst we encountered. You should consider taking the Top of the World Highway from Chicken Alaska to Dawson City and then down to Whitehorse on your way back.

I'm with the Arizona Highway Patrol and people often don't realize how remote areas are and that EMS services are not 5 to 10 minute responses like in the big cities. I've worked a roll-over fatality between Show Low and Globe along US60, the ground ambulance took 45 minutes to arrive on scene from Globe; almost the same amount of time that it took an AirEvac helicopter to arrive from Phoenix about 150 miles away. SR87 between Fort McDowell and Payson is the same situation; close to Phoenix so people are complacent but not realizing the delays. In other parts of Arizona, it can easily be a one hour wait or more. Sometimes in remote areas, like in this case with a 1.5 hour one-way delay (3 hours round trip), it may be beneficial to put them into your vehicle and slowly drive them in the direction the EMS unit is coming from and meet them along the road shortening the driving distance to/from the scene; something we've routinely had to do in patrol. Of course, this depends on the severity of the injury. Based on the injury, it may be better to not move the person and cause more harm. It's a really a judgement call based on the exact circumstances at the scene; and, if you don't know to lean on the side of caution and don't move them. Honestly, I'm surprised they didn't have an AirEvac service for that area for first response. Lucky though he wasn't seriously injured.

With all the dusty roads you have traveled, how do you keep dust from infiltrating into your RV? Specifically around wheel wells, plumbing / electrical access holes, etc???
