i just found this band a few weeks ago amidst being broken up with, moving out, losing all my friends, and starting a brand new chapter in my life. i’m not sure the exact meaning of this song, but i feel it in my bones. to me, it tells the story of a partner who is fully aware of their self destructive habits and hates themself to the core. they cling to their partner, because they love them immensely, yet also realize that they are absolutely nothing without them. their poor mental health starts to rub off on their lover, and they feel guilty for being with them, because they know the relationship is parasitic, obsessive, and entirely reliant on their partner. after awhile, their partner breaks things off, because they can no longer take the emotional and physical toll of being w that person. they are so heartbroken watching their ex lover not only move on, but live an even better life than before without them in it. in the end, they are left completely empty w nothing but a continued longing to be w that person. i’m so glad i found this band.

You know that feeling where you don't think anyone laughs at your jokes, or involves you with conversations, but still invite you out and ask how you are doing? Probably not but I do, and to me this song reflects that feeling.

This music is so much quieter and more solemn than your previous work. Previously, even your mellower music had a strong driving beat and consistently high momentum through the song. I think Summer in the Valley might be the best demonstration of how, even when the mood of the song changed, you managed to keep the momentum and energy up. It gave it a distinct rock n roll edge. This is closer to indie or folk, I like it as well. I hear a bit of Jimmy Eat World, I think.

This is my favorite music video of all. Of courses, opinions mean nothing and a lot of things, so Mr. John Jakob Jinglehiemer schmitt (his name is my name too), as I have decidedly named the furry hobo cryptid horns guy, is hands down the most surreal costuming I've ever come across. To add validity to my statement or something, an expertise: I make costumes and props and things. You could say its for a living.
