36. Shoe Tying vs a Job
Shoe tying board. He was still working on, I mean he's in his 50s and he comes to us and his plan at the facility is working on tying his shoes. It's not a shoe, it's a shoe tying board that sits on a table. Now, there's Velcro, there's slip-ons, you know, there's moccasins, whatever. But instead, he can't tie his shoes. Now, Richard ended up working at the VA hospital running the machine that irons sheets and earning enough money before they forced him out 'cause of his age. He earned enough money to buy, actually buy a house. He bought a little tiny house. It's 600 square feet, but this is a guy who was working on tying his shoes. That's it. The furthest they got him in the institution was learning how to tie shoes, not shoes, on a shoe board and he's in his 50s, so he'd been working on that for 20 years.
