I decide to modify the exhaust on my 2002 Silverado 1500. I change from Carven "R" Series to a Carven "TR" Series muffler.

Yes! someone who appreciates the exhaust note and not just making it louder than hell and thinking it sounds good the louder it is. Ive learned over the years i enjoy a good sounding exhaust over a loud one. Nice truck man. Sounds great.

Like I said great video. 😂 I’m thinking of running dual carven tr on the end and two in place of the center resonator of my v8 5.5l na coupe. Do you think it will still have a good aggressive sound or would that be too much muffling? I daily drive and didn’t want the loud early morning cold starts.

Did you ever notice any performance gain in either muffler that you're taping on on this particular KZbin video. And you made mention about the Corsa exhaust. Any performance gain on that one or MPG improvement?

I truly don't pay attention to MPG with this truck at all. If you want more MPG I wouldn't suggest modifying a truck like this, you’ll never get any better than what it offers from stock. Performance; this setup is already maxed out so a simple muffler change has no effect on it. The mufflers I took off allows more flow, so in theory that will give the best performance; Carven-R

Just depends if you want the more aggressive and loud version over the more tame setup. Mine was just too loud for daily driving and things like that so I decided to tone it down.

I have a 99 Chevy Silverado extended cab, I put headers and deleted the cats and resonators and has a flowmaster super 40 series, Recently I’ve been wanting something better and I came across the carven TR series, seeing your video I’m sticking to getting it but would it sound rougher since I deleted the cats and resonators?

I had two type R mufflers installed 3 weeks ago. At first I liked it, but now it's obnoxious. My neighbor complained about the cold starts. The drone inside is awful. It's causing vibration and rattles. The shop welded them on backwards. Not sure if that's part of the issue also.

I've got the TR and been thinking about the R but I just dont like that cackling raspy sound, sounds like shit to me. That TR is quiet with a nice roar unless you get on it. Love it

I’m thinking about getting a truck the guys truck is about 9 hours away from me. He says it’s a 5.3 swap but it was originally a 4.8. Can you tell me any ways to know if it’s a 5.3 or 4.8?

Bryce Howard there is no way to tell without taking the motor apart. The both say 5.3/4.8 on the block. But inside the engine bay it’s completely covered up. I wouldn’t buy it if it isn’t a true 5.3 VIN truck, but that’s just me.

Bryce Howard could be a number of reasons. But they might think it’s a 5.3 but could be another 4.8 too. Just never know

Either one would be very similar. Muffler would just have more drone, but it’s cheaper

I actually had a little drone with my R series and now I don’t have any at all using the TR. But my exhaust is a little unique so it’s not the best comparison.

Super Stan hmm 🤔 can you at least hear it on the inside of the cab? I’m running dual mf bullets on my truck with headers and high flow cats as well. I love how it sounds, but if it was literally a hair less noise on the inside of the cab, it would be perfect. I’m used the growl of the carven r so I know I will like the tone of the tr as well. I just don’t wanna get a new setup and it’s nonexistent in the cab

Ok that’s great! I might have to try it out. My setup now isn’t obnoxious either and the drone is slightly more than minimal since I have dumps less than a foot from the ground 😅. But just on light acceleration in city driving, it can get pretty noisy on the inside. The radio can stay at a decent volume though. My biggest thing is, I’m kinda past the “loud for no reason” phase and wanna branch out to something that’s just noticeable at idle and screams at high rpms
