That was an insane episode in a consistently brilliant series. Everything from the set and costume design to the cinematography, acting and dialogue is just incredible. I'll legit be sad when its over.

Mariko learnt Portuguese, not English. John and Mariko are speaking in Portuguese. The English in this series is just for the viewers since it is produced for the English speaking viewer.

@@eodyn7 it was latin or Portuguese before english, latin, portugese and spanish will be understood most, in southeast asia it was malay, in east was mandarin. in middle east, north africa, swahili coast and sahel it was arabic. even ottoman sultan spoke arabic and also turkish native but after attaturk arabic was banned. just like spain did except malta survived and evolved into new langauge. english become world language like 100 years ago. before english, if not french will be world language or spanish

More royal families are going to hear about the assassin attack on the torinaga castle and the death of a highborn after all the highborn were asking to leave.

This version of Blackthorne's movements, body posture, body language is all messed up. Maybe that is deliberate to show how different and the "barbarian' that he is, compared to the precise movements of the Japanese. There's a dramatic, violent, tragic scene unfolding below him (Mariko's combat scene) and he is leaning with his arms over the rails like he is casually watching routine stuff going on at street level

Its almost funny but nice to see so many people have no idea this is a remake (and a book before that), exciting and new. That said, this version's death, in a way, is far more inferior. Since they've changed their relationship (or rather the depth of it), so drastically, maybe she will survive... but unlikely.

this show made Blackthorne look like a totally unimportant side character now in ep10 everything will be rushed and pushed together, it just feels so unfinished and rushed, no room for character development, no real love story between "main" protagonists... i feel very lost after this episode, how can they conclude the story in one hour. toranaga doesn't appear for 1 second in this ep, and they said the story is complete in 10 ep. i didnt read the book, and dont want to know what happens next, but this is so confusing. yes we can all see all the lords will want to rise up, but how does it make toranaga shogun if he doesnt invade and take the throne himself? honestly i ll be extremely disappointed if after next week we find out there is no major battle in this series. i mean this is a 10 part series set in waring period of japan, how is it possible that in 10 episodes we kept getting promised there will be a major battle but it never came. is toranaga going to magically appear with his army next ep and assault the castle right away? or some one is just gonna chop ischido head off next ep and then the bad guy is gone just like that? 😅😅😅😅 and why would ischido murdered the hostage lol ? if you murder the hostage, where is the leverage? if you cant or dont stop them leave, then just go ahead and let them leave and prepare for war.

@@universalcollective427 i wouldn't say that, but from a tv series perspective, it is too slow to air 1 ep per week, especially they always give the cliff hanger. i know this is how they keep ppl interested. and in terms of the distribution between drama and action, i think it is not the optimal distribution. say if we have 14 ep than it is ok, we still have plenty of time for the climax of the show, but we only have 1 ep left, they really need to make the ep 1.5 hours long at least or else how do you sum up the story....
