This is where I have a problem with WAR. Last year Judge got MVP because of 62HR and higher WAR yet today's game is a prime example where, Ohtani won the game by himself yet he will not get 1WAR out of this game. His two way is simply not quantifiable with the current baseball metrics and this is odd to say it but his value is underrated...

It's cause Ohtani didn't literally win the entire game by himself. Other players still fielded ground balls, got on base ect. For an individual to accumulate 1 WAR obviously takes more than 1 game. If someone has 10 WAR on the yr, it means his team has 10 more wins than they would with a league average replacement player. That's massive! It's the diff between a division winner and missing the playoffs. Baseball does have the tools to quantify his greatness

I feel like you’re all understating what he does. It’d be like if a soccer (football for you) player was a striker who could be a second goalie in the same game. Hitting and pitching are wildly different skill sets they have to spend years perfecting. Most pitchers don’t hit, and those that do aren’t good. His hitting and pitching are near the top of the league. I don’t even like baseball but I recognize he’s like no other modern athlete.
