That’s why we need experts. I’m retired, but I was in the healthcare field for 40 years. He probably tore his labrum. He will be out for nine months, post sx for repair… better go back to pitching! if that’s what it is it’s a horrible injury and he may not swing the bat again. but the good news is it won’t disrupt the function for the rest of his life. @3:27, his shoulders look fairly symmetric, although it could have spontaneously reduced itself. In other videos, the first thing he does is grab his wrist. While FOOSH is involved, it's a weird mechanism for FOOSH causing a shoulder dislocation when he's never had one. The wrist ligaments are far more delicate and equally likely to be injured, given the low energy impact.

I am a field photographer at a college football game. A football player had dislocated his shoulder while attempting a tackle on defense. He laid on the ground with excruciating pain. They sent him to the club house. Few minutes later he was back on the field. It just so happens there was a field physician on the field and I asked him about the players injury. He said they just made the adjustment inside the club house (meaning they yanked his arm which is quite painful) to put his shoulder back in its position. Quick easy fix.

Otani himself said, ``I think I dislocated my shoulder,'' and at a subsequent press conference with manager Roberts, he said, ``I dislocated my shoulder and put it back together, and there were no problems with the movement test, so I thought it was fine.'' It might be a mild dislocation. By the way, Bellinger suffered a dislocation during his time with the Dodgers, but he played in the World Series. I hope his symptoms will be as mild as they were back then.🙏🙏
@JakeStineАй бұрын
Sprains or hyper-extensions can feel like dislocations to the player, eg. hyper-extensions can be accompanied with customary "pop" feeling but it's more the tendons or ligaments dislocating from their usual arrangement briefly even while the bone joint remains mostly or entirely in its socket. The movement of the connective tissues creates very distinct pop feeling and is even quite audible, but the severity is usually minor.

Reports afterward suggest he had some decent range of motion and function, according to the trainer, and suggested subluxation. MRI is to be done. I appreciate the medical/anatomical analysis here, but of course we all have to wait for a more definitive diagnosis after imaging. I hope he's not seriously injured and can rejoin the team as DH in the series. But first thing is just to make sure he's not hurt too badly. The slide itself was not typical Ohtani sliding. It looked like the slide in the previous game, I think, where he was also caught stealing. He's usually much better at timing the pitcher, starting the slide at a proper distance from the bag, and sliding smoothly into the bad. The last two slides were awkward by contrast with his usual slides. So I think he's been over-anxious and off his normal base stealing approach and mechanics.

It was reported to be a minor subluxation. Imaging will be done this morning to see if there was any damage. So far it looks promising.

Dr. Sutterer, I have been a long time subscriber to your channel and I left this request quite a few years ago, and was wondering if you had ever considered it or would still be up for considering it. It is about some older WWE wrestlers who have strange looking deformities in the middle of their chests. If you look up pics of Scott Steiner, Undertaker, Kofi Kingston, Ric Flair, their chests seem to completely separate or cave in at the sternum. I wonder if you could do a video about what might have happened to them and if it's something to do with pro wrestling and pec tears.

I’ve been very amped up about this year’s World Series matchup. This injury Fn sucks! He’s a big reason why I’m tuning in to watch ,

Thank you for this great view of Shohei’s slide. However, his technique isn’t sound. He slides with his right leg into a "figure four," but he doesn't maintain a seated position on his gluteus maximus. Instead, he ends up on his left butt, which forces him to extend his left arm for support. While situational base running may require adjustments, Shohei should always prioritize perfect fundamentals. We’d rather take an out at second than see him out of the World Series.

MOI for anterior dislocation of the shoulder is when the humerus force of action is anterior and inferior, but wouldn't his RC be strong enough to resist those forces? You know bc he's a professional baseball player? I feel like one other clue is that he was holding his shoulder in a flexed position, like when they injury their AC joint. - sources, just a 2nd year DPT.
