Yes I agree - and you can tune the EQ to your tastes!

For me the sound is great, then again I could never get a good fit with my in ear Galaxy buds, or at least not the left one! I love being able to hear my surroundings and they feel very secure on runs. I can go for walks and not have to wear a hat. With my buds I had to always have a hat or headband to keep them in place. Initially I felt very slight discomfort behind my ears where the bottom of them makes contact, but I haven't really noticed it recently, so either the memory wire has adapted to my contours, or they have slackened off a bit. I can wear them for hours and hardly notice them. The update means they can connect to 2 devices and although they are expensive I am glad I got them.

Such a helpful review, my only concern is that the bone conducting one’s selling point is that technology is better for your ears and less damage…I do t really understand the tech on these ones ‘air conditioning’ is it just more about the point of being able to hear surroundings? Also, I had wrap around ear ones before form another brand and they were very thick for a women’s ear and kept falling off! I guess I have to see if I can try these out somewhere. I love my airpex ones but they just broke so just trying to decided to get the open air run or these!

Thank you for the review. I think I like most aspects of these ear buds ! You did bring up a good suggestion on wearing ear plugs while using bone conducting ear buds. Though I like the comfort etc of these I am wondering if using them like on a plane might not be isolating enough ?

I use openrun pros because of a skin allergy with in ear buds. If they go into my ear they itch. These openfits are tempting but I’m not sure how much of the ear it touches and does it press onto the ear which is what causes the skin allergy. Open run pros do give me skin rash but it’s on the area around the ear so it’s still manageable.

The drivers do touch your ear - perhaps you could try them out somewhere - I know around here running shops have them to test out?

Just got my open fit..one thing that i notice is the battery life...i find it easy to deplete...i do understand that battery life will depend on environment surrounding,noise, and the amount of volume your using... My question is...how long is the battery life you experience wearing the open fit given that you use in high volume, and in a open noisy environment..thanks..

I find I get battery life close to what Shokz specify but will keep a close eye on them and update the article accordingly.

One point is whether England Athletics would allow these for road racing, which they specifically do with true bone conduction headphones.

Yes it'd be ok for a slow ride along a quiet cycle track perhaps, but you couldn't really rely on it for cycling IMO.

Great video, I've been looking for earbuds for awhile, I had the skullcandy 2 sets over the years and I liked them , I could use them with 1 ear,but the band bothered me around the neck on long runs, and I would breakout with skin irritated, anyhow I will buy these and give a try on my android, I usually only like 1 ear buds and 1 control I hope these are what I'm looking for, thank you

I’m currently using bone conduction shokz headphones but they’re coming to the end as the buttons don’t always work: mainly from overuse. This review is v helpful as I suspect I’ll be looking for a replacement soon. Thanks.

I have both (but I have had only had for about a week so not a ton of experience). My impressions: - they are both VERY SIMILAR in terms of sound quality. The Oledance (version 2) has slightly better bass performance if you are listening in a relatively quiet room. I find the shockz are a bit more prone to bass distortion but neither is close to closed ear headphones for bass (I have beats fit pro). I think the beats or airpods would be better on a plane - in a loud gym environment I was able to hear the shockz a bit better. Neither was at max volume - the shockz are slightly more comfortable when working out, but the oledance are also very very good. The shocks feel more secure - the oledance controls are better and more configurable. - the call quality is pretty similar: no preference - the oledance has multipoint pairing - They are so close I don't think you can go wrong with either. I have the original shockz aeropex (I think that's the name) and the shockz swim. They are all very good for different use cases.

@@TheTechnologyMan Hi Gideon, I have been on 2 runs with them now and they are just so comfortable, I almost forget I am wearing them. Sound is great, not as good as top in ear phones, but better than many. Certainly worth the money. Thanks again for your review.

Hello not sure if anyone can help me out but if you could that would be great. I am deaf/no ear on my left side and wearing any type of headpeice is a chore lol and most mics are always only on the left and ive just heard about these earphones and its sounds great im just curious if all features are on both sides mostly the mic cause id like to connect it to my pc for work/calls if it can.

There are mics on both earbuds. Just tested the right bud's mic and it worked fine on its own :).

They may not be loud enough depending on what you're listening to.

Even my sony in-ear earbuds don't compete well with the roar of a mower engine. Maybe use proper over ear noise cancelling headphones... I found that even turning the volume way up on my Sony earphones wasn't great, and probably wasn't healthy for my hearing health! I just forego music when I'm mowing.
