Who knew there were so many cute female punk rock drummers in Japan? Naoko is probably running out of options. Emi had the best smile, and I loved it when she would climb over her kit during a drumroll. She was so petite!

+Geo Murch Jr. Emi left because she simply got tired of the constant touring... let's face, we love Naoko, but, she is a real workaholic and Emi just couldn't take the pace. (On the Overdrive tour, she came over to the hall after eating, laid down on a bench a few feet from me and, fell instantly asleep... she slept over an hour, with other bands playing at earbleed decibels!)

shoknifeman2 mikado Emi is an awesome drummer and person too from what I can tell :) I hope she continues to play drums even though she's not with Shonen Knife on tour. I hope she can rest up now :) Touring can be draining. I was lucky to see Emi play a few years ago here in Hoboken, New Jersey at Maxwell's with SK :) The place is no longer a punk venue and no longer booking International artists sadly. Now they only book local artists and no more punk bands. Quite sad. But at least I got to see Shonen Knife when Maxwell's WAS a punk venue :)

Yes Emi was great... the last 5 years were the SK renaissance , but, all good things must end :s As for seeing SK, check for tour dates near NY city next time, they do Brooklyn on every tour, for instance.

@tubridge9 жыл бұрын
iloveshonenknife1 If you meant you want to hire Naru for your own band, she might be available when permanent bassist Ritsuko gets back to work. But no matter how awesome, she was picked to be a temp at Shonen Knife. Enjoy her while you've got her.
