I'd say its not for everyone. Gintama is, at the end of the day, a comedy, and if you dont like comedy or Gintamas style of comedy isnt for you, then your not going to like the series. If you dont like comedy, your not going to like Gintama, no matter how hard you try, and the slow start doesnt help that at all. True it has something for everyone but if you dont like comedy, your not going to like Gintama no matter what. I think that majority of the fanbase aknowledges that Gintama isnt for everyone, but Gintama fans go a little overboard sometimes.

Honestly, I think on paper Boruto is wayy more interesting than his dad. I never identified with Naruto from the beginning, his backstory was literally just "boohoo my parents are dead" shounen protagonist number 4000. I think the concept of Boruto struggling to avoid living in his father's shadow (the former frikkin protagonist) is an exceptional idea to work with, I just don't think it was executed very well, particularly in the anime which I dropped due to filler hell.

There are things in Bleach that are deep in concept but "too complex to understand for the average viewer" isn't one statement I would use to describe it. it's a good series but don't undermine other shows because you found symbolism to Buddhism and Japanese culture in the series when most of these shows have the same types of themes/symbolism to them.

Seriously it's their own opinions, so relax, I really like FMA and Gintama and still can acknowledge that there are better series or in a matter of fact, different shows that take a whole other dynamic of execution. Just because you love a series doesn't mean that it's S tier. My favorite sports manga is Eyeshield 21 but I acknowledge that Haikyu or Slam Dunk are way better. At the end of the day it's all about your tastes and completely subjective, don't be toxic about it. These shows are not your mom or girlfriend to be riled about it if someone doesn't like it. I love a lot of these series, they talked and criticize them and never have I ever got mad, because I know the qualities and the flaws. Learn to take criticism with a grain of salt.

Asura, speaking of Shonen, I think you're missing one big one. I think you should read Rurouni Kenshin as it is a beautifully done Shonen. A story about redemption and changing for the better. The weight of your past actions haunting you. Samurai men just beating the shit out each other with technique, brawns and clashing philosophies. I think the main attraction is the protagonist and finding his path for redemption. I think the OVAs are beautifully done as well from what I heard? Side characters are cool as well and do get their shine. I do heavily recommend it! Also, I think the channel name change is tight. Asura vs Augus is goated! Lol.

@@toongamer2810 For me, it'd look something like 1. Neon Genesis Evangelion 2. Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind 3. Monster 4. Cowboy Bebop 5. Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood 6. Berserk 1997 7. Grave of the Fireflies 8. Trigun 9. Paranoia Agent 10. Perfect Blue Depending on my mood, a few of those can switch around a couple spots but this seems like a good general representation of my favorites. If Adventure Time were an anime, it'd probably in my top 3 here. Not that Adventure Time is necessarily that great, I'm kinda just biased. I would, however, make an argument that Adventure Time is better than a lot of popular shonen animes. Of just shonens, I'd say FMAB, possibly Trigun, and FLCL (though I don't know if that one's considered a shonen) are slightly better that AT. And I think it's basically tied with FMA 2003 and Hunter x Hunter. Adventure Time's writing craps all over every shonen other than those to be honest. The attention to detail, philosophical undertones, and worldbuilding in that show is insane. It's unlike anything else I've seen from a kids show besides Avatar the Last Airbender (which is probably just as good, if not better). Adventure Time is awesome, one of my favorite shows for sure.

@@toongamer2810 I've seen Death Note and Mob. Death Note was solid but it didn't really go into its themes a whole ton. It focused more on being something like a dark comedy. And while that makes it pretty entertaining, I wouldn't say the writing is groundbreaking by any means. The only reason I didn't have Mob on there is because it's not over. It's practically perfect so far and I could totally see it being better than AT when it's all said and done. It's just incomplete right now. But those other animes I haven't seen so I can't really say. I don't think Gravity Falls is phenomenal really. There isn't much of any character development or deeply explored themes. It's just a cool, fun mystery show that's meant for entertaining. Kind of like Death Note but even Death Note goes more into its themes than that. Gravity Falls isn't nearly as ambitious as Adventure Time either. Adventure Time tackles some pretty big themes, often through its characters, and has impressive amounts of success with it. Like Finn for example. We saw him go through the stages of growing up. In the first couple seasons, he's just an innocent kid. then around season 4, he gets a little older and starts to act like a teenager. He makes a lot of dumb decisions and has a lot of problems that kids around that age usually experience. The show offers solutions for Finn on how to deal with everything and he's able to learn a lot from the experiences. This is great to watch when you're young because it can help shape your own morality and even guide you through some steps of your life. Then in season 7, he's basically grown up at this point. He becomes much more mature and has a better sense of actions that are right and wrong. And even then, he still goes through struggles. Only this time, he's older and we see a different version of him handle these situations. I think it's brilliantly executed. Adventure Time was able to age with its audience without majorly screwing it up. Like seriously, the fact that the show is still really good in its 10th season is insane. Finn's character alone is more complex than the entirety of Death Note in my opinion. He deals with more problems, learns more lessons, and has more experiences than all the characters in that show combined. And that's just Finn. Jake is a great representation of middle aged problems and experiences. Bubblegum has control issues and relationship problems. Marceline also has relationship problems but more in detail. Simon's story is one of the most interesting and thought provoking things I've ever seen. BMO is like a child and the show is able to convey a feeling of childlike wonder through him. Lemongrab is basically autistic and we see the different types of struggles he has and how he deals with it. I could keep going but I feel like I've made my point. The show isn't perfect by any means, it has its occasional writing inconsistencies, plotholes, and bad episodes. But not much more than something like Hunter x Hunter. And with that, I think I've just convinced myself that Adventure Time is better than Hunter x Hunter. The two shows actually have a pretty similar writing style, but AT has more to it just because it's longer and completely finished. If HxH finishes, it could probably be as good or better. The reason I say Trigun, FLCL, and FMAB are better is because they go into their themes in great detail like AT does while minimalizing mistakes and errors. I just happen to prefer AT's style more than those enough to overrule the problems I have with the writing. I feel like I've made my point enough now, sorry for making this so long (if you actually read all of it). And yeah it is pretty funny that you didn’t like Adventure Time but liked Regular Show. I liked both as a kid but only started to love Adventure Time like 4 years ago when I came back to it in 9th grade. It’s interesting how we see things differently at different ages.

Adventure Time has amazing reviews and from what I’ve heard, it has some sensational world building and character development but for some reason it wasn’t my cup of tea. My favourite cartoon is Regular Show but I completely understand that it’s not for everybody just like how Adventure Time isn’t for me. It’s all up to personal preference in the end. Seeing as this video is about Anime, my favourite anime is Dragon Ball Z. Is it the best anime ever? No. Yes. Maybe. Who knows? Again, that’s all up to personal preference. @@toongamer2810 I'm telling you man, Adventure Time is so insanely detailed. There are so many little things in the background of scenes that hold a ton of significance. If you wanna see what I mean in more detail, look up the youtube channel Uncivilized Elk. He makes a bunch of videos analyzing cartoons and he mostly does adventure time. His videos are great. And while there's character development (growth or decay) in almost every story ever, the amount of detail put into it varies from show to show. You could have something like FMA where a main character (Ed/Al) goes through a small change early on and becomes a static impact character the rest of the story. Or you could have something like HxH where a main character (Gon/Killua) is characterized in detail for an entire 7 straight arcs before finally changing to make that change more dramatic. It depends on the type of story being written. I'm not watching FMA for the character development, I'm watching for the great social themes so more character detail wouldn't be necessary. Adventure Time mostly shows its themes through character development so the more detail in the characters, the better. I feel like Death Note doesn't have a ton of detail in either its social themes or character development. I think the main focus of Death Note is mostly just the fun rivalry between Light and L, which is quite fun indeed. Also, Adventure Time was like the first show I ever recognized depth in so that's probably why I have a huge soft spot for it. Before I really got into Adventure Time, I just watched stuff like Family Guy, Stranger Things, and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

And while it may not be as well written as some new gen shows. It has the pure status as an icon and some of the biggest moments in anime history. I would really recommend watching FMA 2003 before FMAB. It fleshes out the rushed pacing of the start of FMAB and although it does go purely anime original after episode 25 (equivalent to only 10 in Brotherhood), I still think it holds up and is a really great show But ye otherwise FMAB is amazing IMO. For me personally, bleach peaked during the fullbring arc. I say this in terms of character development and how much you realize Ichigo has grown from the beginning of the series. Not only age but he's wiser and a lot more thoughtful/responsible about what goes on around him. Reading it was definitely a better experience than watching. It's okay what you think about Gintama if you have watched all the episodes but if you think its garbage after watching only 60 episodes then bruh I don't even know what to say. One of the best comedy episodes starts after 70 ep, and even in shounen aspects it's one of the unique ones. If it's not for you then it's okay I'm fine. But I definitely recommend you to be patient and watch everything. Because it's a masterpiece, there is nothing like it. Gintama is a slow starter I know, but be patient and take time.

The best way I'd describe FMA is that it's the cleanest of shounen. It's like Demon Slayer in that it has nothing going against it at all that'd raise it up for others. Like they aren't gag series, they don't have edge, they don't have style, romance isn't these guys thing but those series wouldn't appeal to fans of romance either. They're just straight shounen, they don't lack in that but they don't have that extra thing going for them that'd appeal to people with a more defined taste. As objective as they may try to be they have a certain taste and the series they rate highly appeal to them as much as FMA or KnY may appeal to you.

@@ab-hx2ii Berserk is special because of it's writing and it's place in anime and manga. It starts off teasing you into thinking it's edgy but then tells the Golden Age which is comparatively light. I think most fans have only ever seen the anime as well so they don't see any of the darker stuff. It's not always trying to be dark or light all the time and so it's able to attract people into both spectrums. It's kind of funny because no matter what you'll see people complaining about the story being one or the other. However it's because of this that so many like it. While dark things may have light moments or light things have dark moments they are just moments. I know most would call the Golden Age dark but despite some of the stuff there's always hope and our heroes seem pretty invincible which is why I consider it more light (that's also why The Eclipse hits so hard). This is even more exaggerated in the anime where we don't see our heroes be nearly as vulnerable. This is also one reason I'm excited for Chainsaw Man 2. I'd say it's more so a dark story with light moments. I think it does a better job of balancing the two than AoT but like Gantz the bulk of what we see is the action and gore more so than the light moments. Part 2 however being mostly centered around school will have more reason not to lean into the darker side of it's world. Anyways I haven't seen HxH so I can't say anything but the problem with many series is that they believe they can only do one or the other. I think most people want a light story but I believe FMA and KnY land perfectly in the middle at all times where as Berserk will sway back and forth (or up and down like a rollercoaster). Again I haven't seen HxH but the impression I get from everything I've heard and read is that it sways to.

Listening to Asura and Augie's thoughts on FMA stung a little, ngl, but I respect the honesty. What didn't sting was Ronin singing the praises of FMA 2003. I love both but definitely prefer 2003, so it's always a little frustrating when people tend to dismiss it when it comes to discussing FMA (I think FMAB fans are just the loudest). It's cool to hear the recognition.
