I have instructed handgun accuracy to individuals and police. I can put 5 rounds in a group the size of a quarter at 7 yrds, and a box of 50 rounds in a 3" bullseye at 10 yrds. One thing I always teach my students is dont blink during the shot. This stops flinching. Just like jason is instructing,... sight picture, smooth trigger pull AND do not blink. Watch Jason's eyes as he shoots, he doesn't blink.

Tried focusing on trigger pull above all else and it does make a huge difference. Also, slow motion video shows the bullet already leaves a handgun before muzzle flip sets in, i.e. recoil has almost no effect on first shot accuracy, it only affects getting back on target.

I love these videos because it shows the importance of that first shot and how it will dictate your follow up shots. Hey my friend I have a quick question for ya. I personally know the right answer but I just saw this on another guy’s video and thought your watchers and students might not know the right way. Do here is what I just saw a minute ago. This guy has a Ytube channel. He was teaching about trigger finger isolation and keeping the “three amigos” fully extended. However he was teaching to keep the trigger finger on the trigger to avoid slapping or jerking BEFORE his weapon is pointing down range or on target. So he had his “empty” gun held in the “strong” position which means of course his arms were position/held either arms bent to roughly 90degrees. In this position, he teaches to place the finger on the trigger and practice dry firing. I was taught years ago by an instructor that, “what we do in practice, we will do in live situations and that only PERFECT practice makes perfect reactions in real time.” You are the best I have seen in my many years of learning. I pray you keep going strong for a long time to come.

I appreciate your tips, a person can't ever learn too much. The reason I'm writing is due to a concern that I have about your set-up, specifically the flashlight mounted to your pistol. In my 22 years as a policeman I discovered that indoors or out, City or rural, there was most always enough light for me to work without a flashlight. The fear being that the light gives away your position. And mounted to a pistol, provides a great point of aim, for someone wanting to shoot me. I always have a flashlight on my person, when I need it. Thanks again for your service!!

He probably has a stand-alone on him, too. One benefit of having a WML (even if it isn't turned on) is the weight will keep the barrel flip down, so quicker follow-up shot sight acquisition.

Great teaching technique. In another life I taught F-16s; and many of the same techniques, back to basics, slow, repetition apply in various forms of learning. I’ve applied your learning to become a better CCW; along with local firearms training. I’ve recently had the opportunity to do some very basic SIM force on force in CCW application. For me, I’ve coins when that stress is introduced, I do fall back to a lower level or basic proficiency. The “push yourself to failure.” On the SIM two way live fire? I revert to point shooting. While we all shot each other at 5 yards; backing up to 10 yards-ish we all missed! Moving targets, return fire, and I sent 6 rounds hither and yon to strike who knows? Great learning, and a demonstration of that brain/gun/shooting memory that hadn’t been built to that level within me yet! Thanks again for the training!

That’s one way to do it yes. When the slack is out you hit the “wall”. I like to call that 0%, and when the round breaks over it’s 100%. Sights on! Slack Out! Squeeze!

I always try to get good trigger placement and slowly squeeze and always group my shots with a couple outliers but its always low or high,usually left can never hit the spot I'm aiming at and sights are good, definitely got some training to do.
