well there was the daylight portion..haha.. but I feel you, the real point I was trying to make with that is, if money is tight and all you have is a phone you can make good pictures with minimal gear. And a $100 constant light + phone is cheaper than a new camera and lenses.
@marcievillasis36844 жыл бұрын
you can use a home lamp with a white bulb in it. I did that for jewelry pics a while ago. Or you can use day light. Which I prefer it over studio light. Than is personal taste more than anything 😊☺️
@Stan_sprinkle3 жыл бұрын
In any case, gear or no gear, I learned a lot from this video. The technique plus the LR presets are pretty killer, even without a studio light.

@@ritojachakravorty7266 It was worth the 6 mins just to get the tips on how to use the LR camera app. I also bought his LR filters. Even without the extra gear, this still improves my game significantly.

This is fantastic. I’ve been interested in food photography for years and have been saving for a DSLR and lenses, but am using my iPhone right now to practice learning the basics on lighting and composition. I think it’s so helpful that the light room app has all of these features and your demonstration was helpful in tying the pieces together. I never noticed this function was available!

I would stick to ISO 25 when using an iPhone and a tripod, as long as the camera app can manage long enough shutter speeds (another limitation to worry about). Noise gets heavy very fast with these tiny little sensors, so using the lowest ISO possible helps a lot. Should have worked with your natural light shot, but might not have worked with your studio shot (there I would've set the slowest shutter speed and set the exposure by increasing the ISO). After using a smartphone for "serious" shooting you start to appreciate a "real" camera even more … ;-)

nice one, it makes me want to experiment with my phone now 😂 4:04 i find that the better way to avoid that is to zoom 2X when shooting food with a smartphone, when a client asks me a way to take better shots of food with his phone i give him 2 advices, use natural light, try using a curtain as a diffuser if lighting is harsh and zoom 2X to avoid wide angle perspective. Sure you loose some quality but to me 50mm and above is the focal length for food, and you dont need a vertical tripod. (I prefer 70 and above to be honest)

Great tips here! Worked with a Digital camera the first 5 years of food blogging, (KZbin Channel), now I find my iPhone does too many amazing things in photography not to make it my primary camera, especially since one social media format wants horizontal while others use vertical. Clipping the iPhone onto a tripod that has a moving arm has been the issue, Pipe cleaner wires were my first fix, will look for your clip. Also... Lavalier mic for iPhone is another issue. No one wants to listen to a video in which the sound is not sharp. Any suggestions there?

I know I might sound like a little bit of a hater, but if you have that huge diffuser, a tripod, and a backdrop, wouldn’t you also have a camera? You have that equipment with you already on hand, but not even a decent camera other than your phone? Also, I don’t think that’s the actual camera app provided on your iPhone before purchase. I checked on my phone, and the interface is totally different! Please, if you’re going to use different things than what people would generally assume from the title or the thumbnail, address it before hand.
