Shooter giving his dad the respect he so deserves. Waylon was THE man.. Hands down the best ever.. Cash was no outlaw and he himself stated it.. Waylon fought for his music and freedom to make "his" music... He proved the "suits" wrong but in the long run paid the price by being black listed so to speak by radio stations and such. Waylons music is just awesome.. no other word is needed.. A shame main stream America was never given the opportunity to listen to Waylon A. Jennings..

this song is so true. all the country music today isn't what country is all about, go back to the 70's and you'll hear REAL country music. Shooter is just following in his fathers footsteps and that was for REAL country music. not only Waylon but Willie, Cash, Haggard, Hank, etc....Go Shooter, prove your point!!! We love what you're doing for country music!!!

Looks like his Dad and carrying on his legacy He’d be proud. These days singers are just hired guns and only about money. Not art. There are several exceptions but Chesney, McGraw, Aldean, Luke Bryan.. not at all. I don’t want to hear a song sang by someone who hasn’t been “there” and doesn’t make me believe it.. “ boy can you make folks cry when you play and sing?” It’s not real if you don’t feel it. And you won’t feel it if the singer doesn’t feel it. They pretend good but not that good..

This is the Song that turned me on to Shooter Jennings years ago still my favorite by him. Love that he called out Bullshit Outlaws like Jason Aldean, Justin Moore, etc. Of course Shooter is a real Country Artist leading the charge at the manufactured Country by Nashville like Luke Bryan, Blake Shelton, Florida Georgia line, Lady Antebellum etc. The Revival becomes stronger each year with New Artists trying to make Real Country Music like Chris Stapleton, Whiskey Myers, Eric Church, Sturgill Simpson, Cody Jinks, Etc.

@@haydenavant2552 Country music is about writing your truth, thoughts, feelings, etc. About the world. Blake doesn't even write his own songs what he does in his personal life is irrelevant to what his music is. Anyone hating on Shooter for this song defines ignorant. To all those who think Shooter isn't legit, or that he makes terrible music, you're fools. There's nothing more powerful than an outlaw who knows his roots. Jennings isn't just a last name. It's a monument in the Country genre. If you can't appreciate a man like this, saying what needs to be said, you should g back to Jason Aldean, talking about "dirt roads" in his clean ass truck and designer boots. You want to talk about fakes? Start with the majority of the mainstream artists that call themselves Country. Keep doing what you do best Shooter. You make the best damn music your fans will ever know. Stay true to yourself son. You sure as hell put the O back in Country.

99.99% of the shit on the radio isn't REAL anyway, it's canned country to get the lil teenie boopers wet and to make their city born and bred boyfriends feel "country" because they drive a jacked up chevy that hasn't ever seen mud much less a field.

Bryan O'connor Even calling it canned country is an insult to the term, it's "southern pop" but then again, that's an insult to the south, so I guess the best term for country on the radio should just be shit, except the old country.

Real country music is working folk music its grit and its poetry of midnight rodeos and bar fights.Outlaw country is real country. It's reclaiming the cowboy and the voice of the truly free someone Nashville sold down the river along time ago

Shooter, I've said it a million times. Love this song and also your Black Ribbons album. You are so real. Unlike "the system". You are an inspiration to me. Cuz you're not afraid of repurcussions. I admire that. You're not in it for money... just validation. And I sooooo admire that. You are validated by us that see YOU and your talent!
