This only comes from experience. You could use something to block the net and practice different angles. Typically though if you can see any net on your shooting side you KNOW the puck can see more so you know you have something to shoot at.

This video has helped me a lot. I have been very frustrated, because my shot is actually not that bad, but every time when I was in an one on one situation I was denied by the goalie. Thanks to this video I was able to improve that!

Even though I'm a goalie this helped me to line up to the puck instead if the player

Absolutely, that’s my problem. I have a baseball catcher background, just started playing hockey goalie. It’s a hard habit to break.

If what youre doing is getting you goals, by all means keep doing what youre thing!
@howtohockeytraining12 жыл бұрын
That's a great point Tyler. Once you get into competitive hockey it is harder to find the goalies out of position. A quick change of angle will help create a better chance of scoring. I will mention that in a future video.
@howtohockeytraining12 жыл бұрын
You are absolutely right. The younger players with newer goalies need to take advantage of a goalie who mistakenly plays the man rather than the puck. In competitive hockey you can take advantage of the time when the goalie is slightly out of position.
@howtohockeytraining12 жыл бұрын
I've talked to guys who said it was about 10 years before it finally clicked, or they never realized it until they were done playing minor hockey. It's obvious but easiliy overlooked.

This completely worked for me in practice yesterday. There really was way more open goal on my forehand side than I realized. Remembered this lesson point in the split second before I took a shot. Thanks Coach!🤟
@howtohockeytraining12 жыл бұрын
It's actually a very common beginner mistake, I see a lot of younger goalies out of position all the time and this video teaches the players to recognize this and capitalize on it. Even experienced goalies can be found out of position.

2:43 is a great example on my last game i had the puck exactly at the same spot shot between the pad and the glove and i scored great video how to hockey
@howtohockeytraining12 жыл бұрын
If the goalie is covering his angles you need to create a place to shoot. You can do this buy moving the puck, or skating across the net instead of straight towards it. This makes the goalie re-adjust. If you are coming straight towards the net and need to shoot you can suck the puck in a bit just before you shoot, if the goalie doesn't move fast enough you can shoot for the short side. If the goalie challenges you and plays the shot, deking is always an option.

Interesting video. Certainly shows how important it is to change the point of release as a shooter to force the goalie to make a quick adjustment.

Imagine a small camera on the stick transmitting live video to someone's visor. Since the can see the puck's angle, they'd be able to snipe all day. Did I just give away a sweet idea that could be used against me someday? Oh well, maybe someone can try that

Do you have any tips for where you should screen the goalie and/or how to tip-redirect shots past the goalie?
@howtohockeytraining12 жыл бұрын
In the video I made it sound like goalies do it on purpose, I meant it as some goalies mistakenly play the man. I find beginner goalies will do this, especially younger goalies

Nice vid, I actually just logged on to ask if you can make some shootout move videos as I'd like some new ideas but it would be nice for some walk throughs. Looks like you have put in a lot of work on your new website. is there any way you could make a preview video on what you get when you buy it?

This is why a mini toe drag to shot is so effective. I highly suggest learning how to shoot from your lead foot, it helps to develop some sick accuracy.

Jeremy, i'm a 12 year old hockey player with one game left this season i had a four month season with 5 hat tricks and 26 goals and 12 assists with hopefully a little more. But with a great season i would like to keep it up. We have an outdoor rink in my town and only get 4 months of hockey. So next year i will be a bantam with competition harder what are some ways to step up my game during the off season. Please?
