A bit of electrical tape around the rim would give you the fit you need for a good primer strike, Just because it made a dent doesnt mean it was a solid strike that would cause detonation of the priming compound. When you sort that out, Try putting a 5 gallon jug at the end of the barrel, Out of the 220-240 odd grains of powder, You will find maybe 20-40 grains actually ignited due to the burn rate of the powder and lack of pressure build up in the expanding case. Probably capture the bullet in the empty 5 gallon jug as well... Then you can do another experiment and shim the BMG round with cut up coke can and electrical tape from the base to the tip of the projectile allowing the round to generate pressure will give you "The Bang"

It should be possible to ignite them by heat .. hm .. perhaps by an angled blow touch.
