I love the way that you react when you totally miss the target, it is such a honest and open response, showing that you are fallible and not only showing your hits to give a false account of your accuracy with your weapon. The last time that I had a session of archery with a group of Scouts, the instructor who was in charge of my group carried his bow horrizontally(?) and fired from his hip, almost like a gunman in the old western films. As he said afterwards he followed the course so often and with such a range of sizes of pupils, he had developed his style of carrying his bow so that the same bow could be used by anybody from an eight year old to an adult.

Mihai Cozmei (The Living Arrow) is a very good source to study this particularly draw method (the Slavic release). He explains and teaches it clearly with very good demonstrations. You also want to watch what you are doing with your bow hand. You don't want to "throw" your arm to the side. That doesn't accomplish much other than throwing off the shot. You may be attempting "khatra", which is a more purposeful torque intended to improve arrow clearance. Mihai Cozmei and Armin Hirmer have very good videos on the topic.

I have always shot from that side. Growing up we (friends I grew up with) always shot instinctively too. Draw Raiseing, lowering, right to left and let it fly. We also stood on opposite sides of the field and would shoot towards each other at a target so we didn't have to go fetch the arrows. We did that long before that game of Jarts came about.

@AnimaTriste
@AnimaTriste 2 жыл бұрын
@@adonisbs I have seen his videos and videos of other more credible sources. Nobody says it is impossible to shoot that way. But just because it's possible doesn't mean that it's probable or true: physics and ease of shooting (efficiency if you will) point into other direction. Also if you handle an arrow correctly, speed argument falls off the table. Being trad archer for decades and avid student of archery history gives me some insight, I think. He is nothing but an attention seeking clown in my opinion, sorry. End of discussion. Good bye.
@adonisbs
@adonisbs 2 жыл бұрын
@@AnimaTriste Ok then. There have been many KZbin channels and several places around the internet where people have indeed said it's impossible to shoot that way. So you're wrong here. Doesn't matter if it would be probable or true. The point Shadiversity (and ThegnThrand, who inspired him) made in his videos on "shooting from the wrong side" was exactly so see if it was really impossible to do. He proved it was possible, he also showed how he could get straight flight of the arrow by shooting it from the wrong side and both Shadiversity and ThegnThrand made remarks (even though just being personal anectodes) on how it felt easier to draw heavier bows. And even if you do handle an arrow perfectly, speed will always be an agrument because of the human limitation (strength) and the bow's poundage itself. I've also tried this method of shooting and haven't felt any back pains after a long day of shooting. I am also a traditional archer since eight years old and this also gives me some insight. So since you thought is was pertinent to point this out, so have I. In the end, your opinion is just that; your opinion. Just as my comment to the video was just my opinion. The difference is that something made you feel necessary to comment in a way to shoot down my comment, no pun intended. I was just pointing out a fellow KZbin creator that made several interesting videos on the subject. Maybe you should go find a new hobby so you won't make a clown of yourself on the internet again. Best regards

You're experiencing what I did 20 years ago. I was a left-handed archer but I had to learn to shoot right-handed because I couldn't find a left-handed bow. I can shoot a bow with either hand now. It's also true that shooting right-handed is quicker. A bow like you're shooting in this video can be used with either hand so you could shoot right-handed for speed or left-handed if you needed to make a longer shot and required more precision. Keep practicing and it will start to feel natural no matter which side you shoot from.

Outstanding vid dear......I love how you are expanding your skills, and knowledge of the other variations of Archery, other than Western / traditional style. You will be amazed as to how Archery in general has evolved in what we are use to seeing these days. But the craft of Archery in itself has been around for many thousands of years, and The type of Archery that you’re exploring into, is definitely a plus for your Chanel/ Vids. Because it lends an excellent advantage to your survival skills. As an Archery coach, myself, I find it fascinating to delve into other styles of Archery I.e. Asiatic, Turkish, Mongolian etc. The style you are exploring into, will,.......I think, give you just as much fun, as what you are use to as well. So shooting from the right side of the bow, will definitely remove that so called “ archers paradox “ commonly associated with traditional Archery, and you will eventually learn about the “ thumb draw “ that is associated with that style of Archery as well. I wish you good shooting, and as always.......keep up the awesome vids. I’m a big fan 😇🙏🏹🇺🇸🇵🇭👍

With every shot I’m dying a bit inside. The poor white feather. You get much better accuracy if you have it on the outside. And your arrows live waaaay longer.

Yep, the cock feather always faces away from the bow.

I noticed that right off, glad it was mentioned here. The first shot that veered right, all I thought was it was fletching deflection.

Lily you really have fantastic skills when handling a bow. I believe if the movie industry ever makes a new Hunger Games movie. With your skill level you could be the next Katniss Everdeen. Please keep these fantastic videos coming because I always enjoy them and everything you do. Take care from John.

In the Marines we qualified each year with rifle and pistol. Monday thru Friday. Qualification day was Friday. On Thursday we were to shoot 200 & 300 yards (pistol,, 7yrs, 10 yrs &15) with gas mask and then shoot with the opposite hand. This was give you the opportunity to fire with your other than dominant hand incase you have been wounded or your dominate limb is damaged. This is not impossible to do but you need to practice. Again, a great video our very best to you and your entire family. Semper Fidelis. Semper Paratus.

Looks like a fun bow, and perfect to just leave in the truck or whatever (no tools needed!) and at $70 an inexpensive way to get into archery :)
