I thought this was about the 75mm shift lens, my bad!

You need to try 75mm shift, it is different optical design than that regular 75, but really worth it. Of course 37,5 mm FF equivalent is far from perfect and sufficient for many architectural applications but probably it wasn't possible to make anything wider back in the day and keep the size reasonable.

Pentax made a 75mm shift lens. I had the 75mm 4.5 lens that you have there. Very sharp.

I’d say 90% of my photography involves architecture and the built environment. I almost exclusively use the Pentax SMC 75mm f/4.5 shift lens and can’t recommend it highly enough. I think if you’re serious about shooting buildings and structures you really need a shift lens. You can get by to some degree without shift capability but you soon realise that converging verticals just don’t cut it. With regards to the 6x7 format there are only really two system cameras that offer a shift lens, the Pentax 67 and Mamiya RB/RZ. There are 6x7 dedicated shift cameras out there like the Plaubel wide but I went with the Pentax as I feel comfortable with its form factor.

Given the subject of the video and his stated concern over non-creative perspective distortion, It seems remarkable that he does not mention that the Pentax 67 lens system includes a 75mm 4.5 "shift" lens to adjust perspective control, a lens designed specifically for architectural photography. The lens shifts away from center alignment, allowing the film back to be parallel to the building to maintain perspective, yet move to hold the subject in frame - much like a view camera would be used. This is an all manual operating lens, making it slow to use, but it is quite good optically. (And a bit pricey.)

Randall Stewart The 75/4.5 shift is easily my most used lens on the Pentax 67. I too felt this was a glaring omission given the subject matter.

The slugs are just standard. Probably ebay. The strap is Peak Design. I use their straps on all my cameras!

Hey there. No, I used an external one in the beginning of each roll. The light didn’t change much throughout.
