We wanted to give you a look into our process of shooting a film on a Phone. This was shot entirely on a Samsung Galaxy S8 with Moment Lenses. It's pretty amazing the quality of video you can capture on a phone and the Galaxy S8/S8+ proves to be a great choice.
Instead of our traditional comparison video we decided to be a little more cinematic about the visuals and really test how our Lenses perform with the S8/S8+. We are blown away with the results and stoked to be supporting the Samsung Galaxy S8/S8+ with Moment gear.

I wondered if anyone else would notice. I do recall that Honda had a rubber tee-tee on the sidestand to flip it up if you left it down and made a left turn that way. Better than flipping the bike!

Hey. I just downloaded filmic pro for the S8, and, in 4k the option to film in log disappears. Actually, the 3 button side panel disappears all together when I tap the color balance button. Any tips?

Hi Moment. Im using S8 and filmicpro but I cant select 1080p 60fps in the app. Specs says s8 can record 60fps at 1080p resolution. Am I missing something in filmicpro settings? Appreciate your help.

Hey doods - Is the Galaxy S8 that much smaller or lighter than the iPhone 7 plus? I’ve had issues with my Osmo (Mobile) in that my 7 plus w/ the Moment standard case barely fits in the clip and definitely wont balance/calibrate with any of the Moment lenses on the device. Halp - Andrew

Love using your lenses for video. I've been using them a lot on my channel. Not a fan of the new tele lens I just got though. Can't use any of the footage. Is it normal to have this very strong distortion Halo around the image? The edges of the video are incredibly distorted. The wide lens is beautiful and magical.

Yeah. We shot in LOG and then use filmconvert.

I never took phone photography/cinematography seriously until I got my Galaxy S8+ last summer. I'm loving this thing, and take it out more than my a6000. I'm still learning what to do with this thing, though. Your video was so good! Definitely makes me want to get out and shoot more with it. The subject was right up my alley, too. I LOVE vintage styles and bikes. I'm a Harley rider, but my goal is to someday get a Triumph Bonneville. I don't have any Moment lenses, but I'm happy to see you support Samsung phones! Maybe some day I can get good enough to justify buying the complete Moment setup. I keep looking at those Amir lenses on Amazon, and I'm like "naaah, that's 20 bucks I can put towards Moment". Awesome! We transfer the footage with google drive and edit in adobe premiere

With Bulk amounts of Video I transfer using Android File Transfer to my Mac. It's free software

What is your shutter speed? 1/48? I'm using Filmic Pro on my S8+ and when shooting 4k 24fps 100mbs at 1/48 shutter speed, I rarely get 24fps. I also have the playback to 24. Shoot I switch to 30?

Hey Mark, We actually were not using any filters on this film - SO the Shutter speed was just fluctuating throughout the scenes depending on exposure. Shooting 24fps is great, just will look a little more choppy (not have that nice motion blur with every frame)

i know im replying a year ago but in the video these guys say they shoot on 4k on log? filmic pro allows 3k only to use the log feature in the kit. please enlighten me. and im trying to emulate this film look in davinci resolve with filmconvert plug in.. i really like the " lumbersexual feel" on this one.

Hey guys, I love your content, and even more that you make products also for Android, and not only for iPhone there's a lot of video/photography community with Android, but I realise that most people thought that Android can do videos with good resolution, and cinematic look. I think that the first important thing it's to know really well your phone's Camara. I recently downloaded FilMic to see if it's better than de Samsung s8 plus camara, but I love the pro camara of S8 and has no much difference, I use the Pro camara of s8 manually, and it's so juice👌.Pd. I'm waiting the moment lenses for the Samsung and shipment for Mexico. If some day you wanna come to Cancun, You had a home here. Hugs and good vibes from Mexico. Which one is better for video recording s8+ or s8?

They both have the same camera. It's just the Plus has a bigger screen, which I went for, just so I have a little more area to play with. I think actually the regular S8 would have been fine, though. The S8+ is a little too heavy for my Smooth Q gimbal, but still works. And my hands aren't very big, so the S8+ is just slightly harder for me to handle.

I do not like the colours coming straight out of the S8 Family... always towards the yellow sight esp at night... hope Samsung can fix this anytime.

The yellow tint on phones is meant to help people sleep. It has been proven that warm colors help people sleep, while blue light keeps you awake. It's the same with cars or any electronics.

I know this is old but it's misleading. Galaxy S8 and S8+ doesn't shoot 4k 24fps with filmic pro. Max is 3k. Lots of issues with this and Samsung not opening camera SDK to 3rd party developers. If you have a Samsung 8 it 8+ save your money it will not shoot at 4k. How these guys got it to work without problems is beyond me.
