Ooooh Jussie. Still dealing with the negative repercussions of having spoken out about my last assault, which actually happened. I had had enough and decided to speak out as a victim for the first time. Strength comes in numbers. I was hoping this fourth incident with my city's police would finally turn out in my favor since it was so obvious what happened and all caught on camera. The positive online support and messages I did get garnered me a few haters instantly. I have lost friendships. Been shamed by people reminding me of all the traumas they and their friends and families have been through that are worse than mine. During a time I was praying for the courage to follow my Grandmother and cousin's steps, some people unfriended me. Some called and messaged to mock me. It felt like my spirit was being stabbed. It made me physically ill. There are so many stories of folks asking for support who are lying. That's why I took the time to write my story with more details than I should've put out there. Because as an Oprah child I've always believed in truth and transparency. I wanted to put pressure on the police. Let them know that an "officer" walking away from a bloodied assault victim refusing to take their report is unacceptable. Making an actual victim chase after police cars to report an incident, in the middle of the street, in the middle of the nite, in a major city, is NOT OKAY. Most of all I obviously wanted to make sure the attacker didn't go ahead and randomly break something else from anyone else's body. I didn't feel "served or protected", nor did I the three previous times I needed the police's help. I love Jussie, he's so talented. But cases like his sets us back even further for real victims. To get any kind of validation / justice from the very unjust system that governs us. I still pray his talent doesn't go to waste. And prayers for all of you who have suffered through Assault as well. A crime that desperately needs to be taken more seriously. As it always seems to be the precursor to the graver that happens later... 🩸💧 ☮️💟🕉
