The Action Target's Rimfire Dueling Tree steel target is a ton of fun and a great way to train with the stress of competition while providing immediate feedback for accuracy training using the .22 rimfire round.

Hi Destinee, I've had mine for a little more than a year and no problems. Just need some 22s and blue paint. One mod I did do was replace the two nuts, that attach the feet to the tree, with wing nuts to make assembly and disassembly easier. I took it out last Friday with a couple buddies to the range and made it sing with two 10/22s with 25 round magazines and my new Henry Golden Boy. This target is well worth the money and will last forever.

A year between comments is far too long Destinee! Appreciate your thoroughness and "energy" that you have lol...I also want the rimfire plate rack esp. that now 22LR is under .04cents now! I just subscribed, so glad I found you when searching for rimfire targets!

Looks like a lot of fun, I agree Lady D.... I've shot and directed the Steel Challenge competitions for many years at our local gun club, with one major rule change. NO copper or FMJ bullets, as we experienced unwanted ricochets(No Injuries). Shooting hard steel should be with lead only. The Dueling Tree looks like a lot of fun for sure!. Good review, well done!....Cheers Eh!....Blessings and Stay Safe :)

Man those are fun, but it goes something like this: "On your mark, get set, GO! [brief flurry of gunfire]......Hey! where did all my loaded mags go? All these are empty!" and about 15 min later... " Did we leave the second brick at home? Where did all these empties boxes come from?" Stock up on ammo before you buy one of these!

Yeah, I'm curious about that too. There are two primary ways to produce slomo - hardware and software. I have hardware capable of 240fps and combined with software, I can get some nice effect - but I sacrifice much more clarity than Destinee seems to be. She must have more gooder stuff than me!!

For a great challenge, compete with a buddy using .22 rifles prone from 150 yards or so. The ammo doesn't go quite as fast and it really tunes those fundamentals.

That was great. There is more charm in one FOD video than on every puppy farm in North America combined. haha Still, although it did not detract from the physical mechanics applied to lead bullets hitting steel, the explanation of physics here really only covered Newton's first fundamental Law of Motion (an object maintaining motion until being acted upon by another force was his first Law - the second Law being that acceleration is only produced when force acts upon mass.) Maybe you read the explanation that the conservation of energy was his first Law in a textbook or heard it from a professor, I don't know - this was a very enjoyable video for me anyway. It makes little difference I guess, and I would not bother typing any of this out tonight if I did not like your channel in general, but the law of conservation of energy developed from a general implication of the Laws of Motion (and I believe from Galileo's law of inertia.) I learned it studying thermodynamics, which states that energy can only move in or out of a system (because, like you said, it never really disappears - it has to go somewhere.)

In IPSC and cowboy action shooting we shoot steel from 7 meters (about 7,6 yards), so i think this is a safe minimum distance for steel shooting with handguns.

I would like to make a smaller, lighter version of this for home range air rifle plinking but not sure whether low kinetic energy pellets (12ft/lbs) would be enough to swing the custom made plates. Obviously they wouldn't even budge 4" 1/8th AR500 steel as they weigh too much say 2lbs approx each but if I used say 3" 1/16th aluminum I might be able to get the weight to something like 1/3rd of a pound & employ the same ideas so that even measily 20gr pellets moving at just 500fps cause the mini plates to swing right round with authority. I doubt that low powered air-rifles like this would cause any damage to say 1/16th aluminum even after hundreds of hits but obviously this needs testsing. Thanks Dest you have gave me a decent guide to start this exciting project :-)

Years ago I saw a competition where they had two shooters each with a dueling tree and a limited amount of ammunition and it was a race to flip all the paddles on your tree - and you could also target your opponent's tree and flip some of their paddles *back*.
@bladesmilitariauk5013
@bladesmilitariauk5013 10 жыл бұрын
Wolf's Airsoft Yeah head to head duelling is popular amongst target shooters in the states. It's the most fun game these duelling trees have to offer. Dest has a video showing her duelling with an opponent from about a year ago on a more substantial duelling tree owned by the range I think.
@wolf1066
@wolf1066 10 жыл бұрын
The one I saw looked very exciting and engaging. They did Picture-in-Picture so you could see both the shooters and what was happening down-range (I've been saying for years they could use that technology to show the Olympic shooting events but the anti-gun media here won't televise shooting competitions - their excuse is "shooting events aren't exciting enough to televise", because they haven't the balls to stand up and say "we're prejudiced against shooting"). The tree I saw had small holes that the shooters had to shoot through to hit their own paddles but when the paddles flicked out, they were totally exposed to the opponent's fire. Another shooting event that looked good was a shotgun event with multiple throwers set up at different angles, including one that rolled the clay along the ground like a rabbit, from which clays were launched in random order and a lattice of hoops past which the clays flew. The hoops let judges see how close to the trap the clay was destroyed and they scored accordingly. Fucking AWESOME.

what does HB stand for? I know Bhn stands for brinell hardness scale
@actiontarget
@actiontarget 10 жыл бұрын
The H stands for "hardness" and the B stands for "Brinell." When looking at steel hardness, it's also important to remember that there's a difference between Brinell Hardness Number and Brinell Hardness Rating. The BHN is the exact hardness of the material being tested (e.g., 479) while the rating actually covers a range of hardnesses (a steel plate rated as AR500 can actually have a BHN as low as 465). This is why we conduct our own hardness tests on all of the armor steel that arrives at our facility to ensure that it meets our specific and stringent hardness requirements.

***** yes but anything AR550 half inch or 3 quarter inch that's rated for .50 BMG? What is the exact brinell number of the AR550 that y'all make? I'm attending Texas International Firearm Festival next weekend and I heard Action Target will be there to provide the targets and selling it there?
@actiontarget
@actiontarget 10 жыл бұрын
7150285 We don't have anything available to the public yet that's rated for .50 BMG, but there is a new target coming out soon that can withstand some pretty major firepower. Keep an eye out for updates. We don't make the steel ourselves, but we source it from the handful of steel mills that are capable of making AR550 steel. We just do internal Brinell hardness testing on every shipment we get to make sure it meets our specs. I'm not sure what BHN range they use for the AR550 steel. We are going to be at the Texas International Firearms Festival this weekend. The targets that are being shot on won't be for sale, but we will have a tent there where you can buy steel targets.
