These are good pistols. I get the feeling he bought a beater and sounds like predetermined not to like the gun. I have one. It works very well. It's not a great gun it's basically a Browning design copy. My dad has a Tokarev and it's been a very good gun through the years. Oh well...

All white people in North America has a grudge with norinco. Most of these guns are well made because if you can get them they are export products. And if you are a reasonable person, with research you’ll know Chinese export means good quality.

Norinco may have an underserved reputation of being branded "Made in China," but their guns pre-ban are generally considered well made and competitively priced at the time. Their value is increased nowadays due to collectibility, but I have never heard of any complaints about Norinco firearms, aside from anybody back then knowing they were a cheap brand.

I'm not so sure about that, the Tokarev is loved by many because it is a good design, additionally Norinco is and has been a very large and very competent manufacturer and anything they have made should at least work safely and most reliably. Just because you aren't familiar with the design it is based on doesn't mean that it is shit.

I've had my Norinco SKS for 20+ years. Has never let me down. Their 1911s are made from decommissioned railroad ties, grips and metal parts. Very tough material. Many custom 1911 shops that don't make their own guns use them as a base, highly sought after on Gunbroker, Egunner when they turn up. Their Tokarevs both 7.62x25mm and 9x19mm are very good. If, of course you can get a Zastava brand new, warranty and all, do it. If not and the price is right for the Norinco, get it. Best AK I've owned other than my underfolder Zastava and Century Galil Golani Sporter(Yes I know their reputation but I've always lucked out with Century) was an NMH-91

I have honestly not ever had any issues with any Tokarev. They are my favorite handgun with the 1911 being a close second. I also haven't ever had issues like what are displayed here. That being said, the actual Tokarev TT 33 has proven to me just as reliable as a Glock 17, which is also an amazing firearm.

I have owned two Norinco Toks, chambered in 9mm & 7.62 calibers. Both excellent pistols, and all steel, a quality many pistoleros enjoy and own. Both pistols operated very well, with no stovepipes using factory ammo. This gentleman, I believe, had already made his mind up before he got to his range area. These pistols, Norinco Tok, are of a super reliable design and I'm sure this gent had a beater. Tok. Polymer pistols are fine, but steel is preferred by many pistoleros. The plastic grips he referenced are exchangeable with aftermarket grips that really look good on the gun. I use a finger-groove Hogue black rubber sleeve slip-ons on both Toks. He is mistaken about the "only" handgun for self defense is a "high dollar" pistol. Many superb handguns, still out there, are surplus pistols/revolvers in good condition, super reliable, chambered in good defensive calibers (.38, .357, 9mm, .41, and .45) of a time-proven design. Reliable and not costing a leg & arm to buy. Most have excellent service records such as the Norinco Tok of this video. I hope this good man will give the Tok another chance before condemning it to the junkyard. There are plenty of Toks available from China, Rumania, and Hungary, some of these pistols are brand new in the box. Gun buyers on a budget love these budget friendly pistols for self defense and great Sunday afternoons plinking. Thanks for your video, even though I differ with you on the old Tok.

Have had a Yugo tokarev 9mm and the 213 9mm. Both built like tanks..over 5000 rounds through each weapon over the past 25 years no issues.. Would trust my life to either one .and neither will melt like your plastic guns. Also have a 7.62_tokarev dam nice powerful pistol . all battle proven .

I bought mine back during the 90’s and have never had and issues with it and I have sent thousands of rounds through it. Of course the Norinco SKS I bought at the same time is equally reliable. Maybe I got lucky. I gave my 213 to a good friend who did not have a handgun and he short it a lot.

I've had mine ever since 1997, I have probably shot thousands of rounds through it, I never had any of these problems I think the gun was either dirty or you was dragging the slide against your hand and causing the problems or bad amo

I've shot a few Tokarevs too. Never had problems as frequent he is. The worst I've had was a stove-pipe and double-feed. I think he had a really badly taken care of Tokarev. That's my take.

1: that safety was put into the gun after manufacture so they could be imported. It was never meant to have a manual safety, the half cock position is the actual safety on this gun.2: that gun looks like it was beat to crap. When I bough mine from Navy Arms, many years back it came with 2 barrels, 7.62x25 and 9mm. And don't go bad mouthing a John Browning design, unless you want you head chewed off by a bunch of old-timers .

The safety is an addon for import regulations. The original design use half cock to function as a safety.

I have a Chinese TT in 7.62x25 ... And let me tell you ,Its a very reliable gun . Never jammed. It's loved by people here. And is a favorite of outlaws here. Although they can afford a Glock, they still use the TT. You just have to take care of it.

I think these guns are a bit of a mixed bag. I've had mine for a couple years now and never had any issues, but I can't argue that it isn't a bit of a junk gun. It's run well for me. Side note: my serial number is about 100k lower than yours and cosmetically looks far more "refined".

Probably one of the most reliable Firearms you could use as long as you do not use reloads the only issues I ever had was with lead reload ammunition other than that flawless very accurate and probably a really good pocket pistol cuz it has a hammer and will not go off unless cocked just my opinion very reliable

The only issues I've had were it refusing to feed Winchester 147gr Black Talons due to the shape of the nose (catches on the feed ramp where the frame ramp transitions to the barrel ramp) AND some other 147gr loads short cycling the slide (Stove Pipe jams). I had a problem with a jam in mine . field striped of and cleaned it a tooth brush good with non petroleum based mineral spirits and re oiled it with mineral oil That's what they ship from factory with. It runs good but Has problems stove pipeing hollow points . ? May need heavier grain bullets ?

The safety is kind of hilarious, honestly for two years I thought the safety was broken but if you push it forward with a little more force than you should it will engage and probably not slip off. PS this is my 14 year old son’s favorite gun. It also has never failed to fire. Granted we don’t shoot it much and it’s only ever seen blazer 115 and 124 grain

The TT-33 is a Russian copy of a browning 1908, but chambered in Soviet 7.62x25. The Soviets shared their weapons technology with the CCP. The CCP decided to sell “civilian” versions to the us in the 60’s through the 90’s. The civilian version was changed to 9mm for the American market. American import laws forced the Chinese to install a safety. The gun was designed by tokerov without a safety. The original safety was to put the hammer at half cock. Many Chinese people died from starvation during the great leap forward to make steel to make these guns. This pistol is a history reminder that communism is evil, and that there are things worse than war. It’s not a crappy gun. It’s just worn out and has a stupid safety thanks to stupid us gun laws.

I thought this may be the case and I mentioned it in part of the video that was cut. Even so I was puzzled when I pushed and held the safety forward it wouldn't fire at all as seen in the video which kind of made me question my initial half cock thought. Something is fishy either way with this one.

My dad had one og these. His mate had one as well. I learned to shoot with one of these. Let me tell you, hands down the worst firearm I've ever come across. The double feeding issue is common, especially after 3 rounds fired in quick succession. Also, accidental discharge hazard. We had numerous when releasing the slide after a mag change. Steer well clear of this one and be very weary around them when in other people's hands.

The Zastava guns are a much better version of these guns for around 250-300 new. The problem with most of the norinco guns is they were cheap and got treated like crap for years before most people now get them, on top of that mags for those things are beat up and don't feed very well.

I had one of these. I hated it. Would jam or misfeed regardless of ammo at least once every other magazine and bit the crap out of me often. Total piece of crap. I feel sorry for the sucker that owns it now. I refuse to own a gun that cannot be relied upon regardless of any historical significance.
