why in video mode, can't slow shutter, the maximum is only at 1/24 ? I am very surprised, why no one discusses this issue.

Absolutely rubbish video. He was filming in HD when he had the option of 4K. It's like having a Ferrari and driving with 20 miles an hour. If you got the power why not using it !? Also , he was using 30 fps when he had the 24 fps which so much better looking , he was also using MP4 in stead of MOV which is a dedicated format just for videos and the list goes on. Yes he can move his lips up and down with ease but this doesn't mean he knew what he was talking about.

You mentioned MP4 as more universal than MOV. I'm a long time Mac user - why would I consider MP4 rather than MOV? (I've been a camcorder dabbler for years. I one tried video on my Nikon D90 and was disappointed. That camera has just been replaced by a Z6II and the Canon camcorder by a new G70. Lots to learn!) I'm 14 minutes into this tutorial. Wonderfully well done!

Hi Thanks for the nice note, I'm glad it's helpful. The world of video file formats is a confusing and complicated one, and I am admittedly not an expert on this. The format of a movie file is called a codec(short for compression decompression). There are all sorts of types with advantages and disadvantages. A heavily compressed format will be small and work well online, but require a lot of processing power and won't be great for the actual editing. MOV and MP4 are not codecs, they are containers - the shell that wraps around the codec. MOV was created by Apple. MP4 came later as a universal format. MOV files can be higher quality and less compressed, and while most programs can read it, not all can. MP4 files are smaller and better suited to the web for streaming, but not as good for editing. So they are similar. You might save your own version of a movie in MOV for archiving purposes, and edit in MOV - less compressed so higher quality. And then export an mp4 version to distribute. I don't have the Z6II in front of me, but I believe it records in MOV - giving you a good file to work with while editing. And then at the end, you can choose to export to whatever format works best. Hope that helps :)

@popeyesweetpea

I know you're talking about pro quality, but sony camcorders using auto exposure work pretty damn well, and have the advantage of keeping exposure right when the light changes. The oscillation you warn about doesn't happen in my experience.

Great video. I have a Z6ii and I'm a bit confused because in manual video mode, I can't seem to access a light meter to know if my exposure is correct or not, like you would in photo mode. How do you know you have a correct exposure when shooting manually in video mode? Are you using the histogram? Thanks!
@YurmanVisuals
@YurmanVisuals 3 жыл бұрын
You're not wrong. You can't see the same exposure scale that you see in still mode. I use the histogram to judge exposure for videos.
@sunrisesunset8843
@sunrisesunset8843 2 жыл бұрын
so how to do ensure the correct exposure level? If the shutter speed is set to be double the recording frame rate. Aperture is used to dictate what you want to be in or out of focus. So you adjust the ISO. Where is the exposure meter level in video mode, like it is photography please?
@YurmanVisuals
@YurmanVisuals 2 жыл бұрын
Aperture and ISO can be used to adjust exposure. The best way to judge the proper exposure is to use the histogram display. You can easily see if you're clipping highlights or shadows.

When I'm shooting 4k@24fps the video seems a little bit "dizzy". like there is a motion blur when I'm moving the camera. any advice?
@YurmanVisuals
@YurmanVisuals Жыл бұрын
Check your shutter speed. If it's too slow, it might look as you describe. It should be at 1/50 if you're shooting 24fps. Are you seeing this as you're shooting or when you're looking at the files in playback or on your computer?
@PopaMariusAlexandru
@PopaMariusAlexandru Жыл бұрын
@@YurmanVisuals Thank you for the reply. Yes, I'm seeing it when I playback them on my PC. Also, I was shooting at 1/50. Can it be because of my monitor because I am using it at 144Hz?

How do you switch from 50hz to 60hz
@YurmanVisuals
@YurmanVisuals 8 ай бұрын
Hi, You set the frame rate of the camera to match either 50 or 60hz. So in the U.S. for example, which is on 60hz, you typically shoot at either 24fps or 30fps. In places that are on 50hz you would set the camera to 25fps.

@@YurmanVisuals ok so I can’t adjust the hz in the menu? , beside shatter speed should help ?
@YurmanVisuals
@YurmanVisuals 8 ай бұрын
@@בניהוהיל Video cameras don't have a hz setting. It's about matching the frame rate and shutter speed to the conditions. You'll notice problems with fluorescent lights the most - they cycle in time with the hz. LEDs can be a big problem too. Try different frame rates if you're having a problem. Make sure your shutter speed is double the frame rate. If you're shooting at 30fps, your shutter speed should be 1/60.
@בניהוהיל
@בניהוהיל 8 ай бұрын
@@YurmanVisuals thanks I played with the frame rate with. No luck I think shutter is the next option. I shoot in aperture mode maybe it’s disadvantage in this regards
@YurmanVisuals
@YurmanVisuals 8 ай бұрын
@@בניהוהיל For video, shoot in manual exposure mode. You don't want the shutter speed changing, especially during a shot. For the most natural looking video, shutter speed should be twice the frame rate - all the time. (I shoot in aperture mode for stills but never for video.)
@RogersPhotographyOG

Just one comment: I would strongly suggest shooting 4k in all circumstances. Invest in a larger card and drive, you won't regret it. This way you are (somewhat) "future proofing" your footage. You can easily downscale and deliver HD post plus you have much more flexibility composition wise if shooting 4k and putting it in a HD timeline. Always capture as much data as possible.
@YurmanVisuals
@YurmanVisuals 2 жыл бұрын
Just be sure you have a computer that can handle editing 4K video, and enough storage space.
