The new laser will come in handy for upcoming projects! The lamp box is pretty, something you could make and sell. Can you etch on stainless steel tumblers? Thinking if you could you’d be able to make them with the tree logo on them also. Have fun playing around with it and you’ll have to show us what kind of creative things you make!😊

You can't cut clear with a diode laser, it needs something dark to reflect back off of.

Do you have to have your own crumb tray or does it come with something to protect your surface? And how about the smell? Does the air assist prevent that? I use my Glowforge in the house and wondering if I'd be able to do the same with this one.

I had to provide my own spoil board/tray. Air assist technically just blows the smoke out of the way, it's still there. You need an enclosure and exhaust fan ran out a window or specific exhaust port exiting your home. That will take care of any smells.

Hey, thanks for the video. I just bought the same model and would like to ask if you have any ideas why all circles are more like ellipses. Bought it specially to cut circles in the foam.. and now such a result. BTW, I also didn't get that screw. Seems to be a common issue :) Greetings from Germany.

Not sure about the circles unless it's something in your software. What program are you using.

It will engrave all kinds of metals, including stainless. As for cutting metal, only the most thin metal you could imagine. Diode lasers still lack the power needed for true metal cutting.

I bought one of these. Have yet to get it to burn something right. Just etched a small cutting board with the settings recommended in the manual, Speed 3000, power 30. Didn’t leave a mark. Kept lowering the speed and raising the power. It finally etched at speed 200 and power 100 and five passes. Did a small 2”x2” photo last night on wood. Took five hours. I’ve called the company three times and they don’t return the calls. The calls go right to a message recorder. Really thinking about packing it up and sending it back. Very very disappointed with this. Been racking my brain for a week with this.

Yeah that doesn't sound right at all, you should be burning wood at much faster speeds and lower power. Have you confirmed that you're setting the laser at the right height above the work material? That's the only other thing I can think of that's really messing with you, you have to be at a very specific distance from whatever you're etching.

Also take a Q-tip and electronic safe cleaner and clean the lens. Sometimes the lens can smut up with burnt materials and it won't work right at all. Flip the laser head over when powered off and clean out the optical lens.

@@TKCL yes the height is right. The laser has a height lever you drop down to set your height. Right now I’m trying it on a piece of card stock paper. Have my speed set at 50 inches, don’t like the mm, And power set at 70% and it just started making black lines. Should have cut this paper at much lower settings. Seriously thinking of just sending it back and order an xtool. Not a better machine but it might work better than this one. Atezr won’t return my calls.

@@TKCL I have air assist, and only did like maybe three very small projects trying to figure the machine out. It wouldn’t be dirtied up already would it? The book said it also etches ceramics. I tried all the was down to speed 5 at 100% power and didn’t leave a mark.

No, no, no, this is wrong. $1,300.00 for a 20W diode laser???? Not trying to cause any trouble, but for that money, you can get a much stronger CO2 laser, with faster and deeper cuts. It should cost less than $400 for what it's capable of. Thanks for the video, though, and I hope you enjoy it.

I totally agree! Some people a happy with the simplicity of a diode laser, but for a 20W diode laser would have gone with other brands such as FoxAlien Reizer 20W Laser Engraver for $399.00

My friends your price is wrong and you need to do some research before you buy the wrong thing. This is 20 watts OUTPUT, around 130 watts input. Those cheap 20 watt units you are referring to are misleading you with INPUT wattage. That Fox alien is a 5 watt laser. Go read the fine print. You won't find a quality 20 watt OUTPUT laser for under $1k. And that's about what this one is selling for on Amazon after the $250 off coupon.
