I'm extremely disappointed and frustrated after watching this video. The Dimapur Naga Students Union (DNSU) caught a shop owner selling decor items without MRP tags, but what's disturbing is that they targeted a non-Naga owned shop instead of addressing the issue in their own community. It's unfair and discriminatory to single out a minority-owned business while turning a blind eye to similar practices in Naga-owned shops. The DNSU's actions reek of bias and lack of courage to tackle the issue within their own community. Furthermore, the shop manager's explanation that imported products often don't have MRP tags seems reasonable. Additionally, customers who frequent the shop have also come forward to defend it, stating that the prices are reasonable. I'm also appalled by the poor reporting by the female reporter from this channel. The lack of balance and sensationalism in the reporting is unprofessional and misleading. The DNSU's decision to file an FIR and shut down the shop for further investigation seems like an overreaction. Instead of taking such drastic measures, they should have worked with the shop owner to resolve the issue amicably. I hope the authorities will investigate this matter impartially and take necessary actions to ensure that justice is served. The DNSU must also introspect and address their own biases to avoid targeting minority-owned businesses in the future. 0:00

What nonsense are you even slurring? Maybe you're not from Nagaland & particularly from Dimapur district. If not, you will not raise such stupid question... Because half of the markets/economy in Nagaland/especially in Dimapur is controlled by non-Nagas.
@johnshady.2 күн бұрын
@@NagaManu-cv6vv I'm not slurring anything, just stating facts. As someone who cares about fairness, I think it's reasonable to question why the DNSU targeted a non-Naga owned shop instead of addressing the issue in their own community. By the way, according to various reports, Nagaland's economy is indeed growing. And, as you mentioned, a significant portion of the markets and economy in Nagaland, especially in Dimapur, are controlled by non-Nagas. However, that doesn't justify discriminatory actions against any particular group. For the record, I'm a Naga myself, although not from Dimapur specifically. I believe in speaking out against unfair practices, regardless of where I'm from.
@NagaManu-cv6vv2 күн бұрын
@@johnshady. I hope you re-read what I stated above. Whether or not the economy is growing keep that aside, but discriminatory action is a false baloney, as I clearly mentioned that the markets, particularly in Dimapur are run by non-Nagas. You'll find only a handful of locals running businesses. Now don't be surprised to witness how a non-naga is being questioned here.
@johnshady.2 күн бұрын
@@NagaManu-cv6vv I did re-read your previous message, and I understand your point about the market dynamics in Dimapur. However, that doesn't change the fact that targeting a non-Naga owned shop, while ignoring similar practices in Naga-owned shops, can be perceived as discriminatory. It's not about being surprised to see a non-Naga being questioned, but rather about ensuring fairness and equal treatment for all businesses, regardless of ownership.

First of all, this shop is one of the biggest wholesale shop selling christmas decorations in Dimapur. I have personally been there and have bought some items. The price is reasonable. I say so because I have checked online prices too (dont know if I should use reasonable or comparable). Anyway, I dont know if these things are arising out of jealousy, competition, or just ngos and media doing their job, but in one way it is good for the public. DNSU have done a good job but they are also answerable to questions with regard to products coming from Hongkong, Bangkok etc sold mostly by Naga people without MRP. This time round, this shop was targered and biasness is outrightly evident. Government can work towards these loopholes and create awareness amongst shopkeepers and customers.

And like said, the protocols of the export import should also be taken into consideration before jumping into conclusion by the reporters . How embarrassing when the vendor is more decent n calm then the hyped reporter wanting to proof their excellence by picking only the fault area that is MRP tag. I wonder, if the MRP was there and he was also doing business with some certain margin of profit , still these reporters would say why is the price like that ? Why is it expensive? 😂 because they cannot move from ₹10 I don’t think any businessman will bring anything at ₹10 margin for decoration items ya🤨😏 Atleast say ₹80😢₹10 toh over hoishe even if it’s exemplary 😂

I am appalled by the recent reporting by NLTv, which showcased a lack of professionalism and respect for the individual being interviewed. Firstly, it is evident that the reporter failed to conduct adequate research on the topic, leading to uninformed and misleading questions. Furthermore, the reporter's constant interruptions prevented the individual from expressing themselves freely, which is a fundamental right in any interview setting. It is also concerning that the reporter and the groups involved are taking it upon themselves to address the issue, rather than allowing the authorities to handle it in a fair and impartial manner. Additionally, it is clear that the business in question has been operating for some time, and customers have made informed decisions to purchase their products. It is not the role of the reporter or these groups to dictate how businesses should operate or what products they should sell. I am compelled to report this incident of harassment and unprofessionalism, and I hope that NLTv will take steps to address these concerns and uphold the highest standards of journalism."

It's not only here, one can go to any big electronic, clothes, shoes etc. wholesale market in India, you won't find MRP. I am not encouraging selling without mrp, but it is prevalent everywhere in India. Those who are businessman or frequent buyers from cities will know. If one has valid Import Export license, customs tax and bill for GST I think there may be some provision to sale the same without mrp in wholesale. I recently bought some items from there. The selling price is way cheaper then in any other retail shop. The price difference is between 30-50%. As the manager rightly pointed out go to Hongkong market, non of the items have mrp😂

DNSU officials did you buy your shirt and pants which you were wearing now are with MRP?
@achiozukum3 күн бұрын
Very clever of DNSU to raid this particular shop. The pantry, one roof, oriental mart aru similar convenient stores te bhi inaka Kure. What about raiding those stores???? Very clever. The motive is very clear. Also please consider cargo expenses before your mathematical conclusion of selling price. They don’t fly to Dimapur by itself. Even clothes from Bangkok are all priced by owners. They are priced 3-4 times their cost price if not more de.

While I understand the students’ union’s intention to ensure fairness, we must approach this situation with compassion and logic, especially as we prepare for the season of love and goodwill. Many imported goods, like Christmas decors, naturally don’t come with an MRP because they aren’t locally manufactured. It’s common practice for such products to be sold without one, and in this case, the seller is reportedly offering them at a more affordable rate than local competitors. As Nagas and Christians, we should exemplify fairness and inclusivity, especially during Christmas-a time of giving and unity. Instead of singling out a non-Naga seller, shouldn’t we focus on supporting ethical business practices and ensuring that everyone, regardless of origin, is treated justly? Let’s be a community that reflects the true spirit of Christmas-grace, generosity, and love.

I agree with the shop manager that non-branded products do not come with a Maximum Retail Price (MRP). This allows us to offer cheaper alternatives to those who cannot afford branded products. If you prefer to see MRP labels, I suggest visiting a branded store. I request that you refrain from spreading misinformation without proper knowledge, as it can tarnish our reputation and appear uncivilized.

In Assam we can get this type of decorations item 50-60 percent less from MRP. If we go for MRP in this items we will be paying higher so instead check the actual price the shopkeeper paid in whole seller. This type of item MRP is very high from actual price so by Inforcing the MRP the seller will earn double.

@@suneplkr5666it lavied directly to the purchasing rate I.e how much u purchased n in how much quantity u purchased it was for wholesaler N for retailer they never give gst bill due to no mrp n batch no. because those r imported goods. imported goods typically do not have a mandatory MRP listed on them when they arrive at the customs point. it means that the customs duties and taxes applied on the goods are calculated based on their declared value at the time of import. That’s the reason they don’t have any proper mrp n mrp culture r especially run here in India no other country have mrp culture.
@M_blues3 күн бұрын
@@suneplkr5666 actually most importers don’t have the Mrp tags which is suppose to be there in the products as per the act. The GST is paid by the importers and the GST is billed accordingly when wholesalers / retailers. In this also, most of the imported items also have customs duty - the custom duty is also dependant on the country wide.

They devoted their entire life, wisdom, and knowledge to securing a brighter future for generations of Nagas. For too long, outsiders have exploited the Nagas from every corner and in every possible way, dating back to time immemorial. As proud Nagas, it is our duty to acknowledge and support the tireless efforts of the DNSU team, who are selflessly working for the welfare of our community, rather than criticizing them. Even the police and other concerned authorities have remained silent-whether due to negligence or hidden agendas. In such a scenario, DNSU, as a responsible student body, has every right to uncover and challenge these unacceptable malpractices that harm our society. Their courage deserves respect and encouragement. Long live DNSU!

Some bosti wala saying they can sell imported items without mrp...No, selling imported items without an MRP is illegal in India under Section 18 of the Legal Metrology Act, 2009, and the Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities) Rules, 2011. Imported products must display the MRP, importer details, country of origin, and date of import. Violations can result in penalties or legal action.
