Also look at going to the larger Hose from the wall to the collector. Minimize the use of smaller diameter hose to only where it is needed to move across the table. Larger hoses mean more air volume and less restriction.

You could look into using a wider bit to cut down the number of passes the CNC has to make. Foam is soft so you could likely use a bit that is an inch wide.

My little suggestion for the CNC, maybe get your vaccum tube a bit shorter, loook like it's a bit too long going over the CNC, you loose a lot of vaccum like that, just calculate what you really need, and maybe you won't have to check it all the time, look like the problem come from a lost of vaccum, funny thing, just before I watch your video I went in my basement check on a project on a CNC machine also :) ;) ;) Love playing with that machine. OH ! by the way, I also use a laptop and I have found an old monitor support that they use to have in office and I have install attach to my table, it's swivel and can go up and down, and when don't need it, just push it away. Have fun.

consider using two layers of foam... one thin one serves as the backing plate and only needs to be ct the size of the box, the other will get the cut outs but will be cut all the way thru . You will be able to do a single pass outline cut rather than route out the entire shape. the cut outs will fall out when you lift cut sheet.

Since you already know what bottle size you'll be shopping & that you'll be doing maple syrup till the day you die then it would make the most sense to order a pallet, pallets or shipping containers worth of precut packaging. There are entire companies based solely on creating packaging here & overseas so your budget will determine what's best for your company.

We just started selling direct to consumer when I started the website 3 years ago, I was always told it was a waste of time so it’s my little hobby project! But once I start selling larger quantities direct to consumer I’ll look into this!
@SoyChuroHonda6 күн бұрын
@MapleFarmer Loud & clear.. In that case I'd recommend going with a 2 piece foam system like you find in most mechanics tool boxes... A top piece you can create a "cookie cutter" stamp for punching out the bottle shape into really quick that you lay over a bottom piece.. You can also buy a hot foam knife that'll cut thru a few X faster than the CNC machine can but adds the possibility of "human error" which can also be seen as or spun into "that hand made from us to you" endearing touch & made a selling point especially if you get video of your kids helping OR you'll find both a foam squirting packer that fills a plastic bag with a bit of hot stucky yellow liquid that expands to the shape & size of the item inside the box or a paper cruncher that crunches packaging paper to a preset size
@LandisLegacyFarm7 күн бұрын
Is it possibly a static electricity/grounding issue that's causing the plugging?

Wouldn’t that cnc work faster if you cut the outline and lifted it out by hand instead of “routing” it? Also, your exhaust appears to reduce too much too fast, maybe that’s why it clogs?

I’ll try it out and make some adjustments!
@derekpiehl859 күн бұрын
I dont think nikki is cutting all the way through the foam. So the syrup bottles have some cushion in the boxes for shipping. Thats why she cant cut the out line and just pull the piece out

@@derekpiehl85 correct!
@McCraymaple18 күн бұрын
My 2 cent suggestion to your question after running CNCs for a while in my day job adding to Mr. Tony’s suggestion is you could up the router bit size to say a 1/2” or 3/4” to do the main pocketing for the bottles. This would cut down the time significantly .It won’t cut the same radius as the smaller 1/4 tool in the inside corners so to clear out the corners and get the same shape run one profile “outside” pass only with the 1/4” which will also take very little time. We’re doing this on all our Buffalo Bills/etsy type work and find it cuts down our process by 50-60 %. Thanks for sharing Nikki!

I’m just curious, but can’t you set that machine up that it makes one pass the shape of the bottle then you just knocked the center out by hand instead of the machine, cutting all the foam out?
@MapleFarmer9 күн бұрын
I’m not sure but I don’t think so because I leave an inch of foam on the bottom for cushion when it’s in the box!
@stanley-rn7xo9 күн бұрын
@ oh OK. I didn’t know that you were leaving a cushion on the bottom makes sense
@bobmiller98358 күн бұрын
Make your last cut the first cut then all of the cutting time is not required. The center piece can be removed and discarded.
@bobmiller98358 күн бұрын
If the cut out is a pocket you can get a sheet of styrofoam the thickness of the depth of the pocket and do a through cut then glue the sheet with cutouts to a whole solid sheet. You can glue while the CNC is cutting.
